Have plenty to work on this winter, was really hoping to have it running this Fall before winter sets in, but always good not to rush anything! Getting started on the bucket seats! Was originally a green bench seat car, now to black buckets! Have a few cracks and two busted springs to repair then back together!
Is a good winter to work on the PLymouth! I think I have spent enough funds to get everything else together. Would like to upgrade the radiator but we will see how the 3core stock holds up. Was able to get the seats recovered, was able to reuse the bucket seat foam and added some extra padding, got the frames painted and had a few cracked places and busted springs. Now to get them all reassembled and back and side panels cleaned up and painted! Got all the door catwiskers changed over, (what a pain?!!) and all the door hardware on. Got the seatbelts cleaned up and need to get those set in for the seat install. Carpet all looks good and lines up nice! Center console I think needs to go in first so gotta figure out that operation.... Am loving it!
I know the seat covers were from Legendary, and I think the carpet kit also. It seems like I remember getting the carpet from The Paddock when they were around? The seat covers were snug and lined up pretty well. The black floor carpet fits great, I installed the hump for a console car and used that carpet kit and am really happy with it! I fdont know how you keep a black carpet clean...
Been working a lot the past few weeks on the PLymouth! Got the seats all back together, was able to work the bucket seat backs and side pieces, and get the seat brackets assembled and mounted! Am really happy how they turned out! Also had some things to finished on the center console, pealed off the old wood grain sticker (what a pain!) and fill a hole, placed a new insert from Detroit Muscle Ind. and it looks great! Also got the seat belts selected and cleaned up ready for install!
Finally getting to work on the mechanicals. Set up the car stand and will tear into the front suspension. Have to replace the 400 crank with a steel piece since seems to have a crack in the oil galley it appears. Will also replace all the balljoints, tierods, bushings etc., and blast and powdercoat all the pieces and kframe. and also rebuild the brakes! Should keep me busy for a bit more!
More dismanteling! Got the front suspension and kframe dropped. Pulled all the front brake components. Got all bushings and ball joints out, and all brackets out to get powdercoated! Have a rebuilt power steering box ready to go.
Seems be be tough to find new '71-'72 disk brake rotors, and $$$$!
Had to straighten the drivers lower control arm, the front support needed some work and worked out well.
Any idea where to get the foam gasket that is used behind the brake dust shield? Or a part number?
Got all new front disk brake components, bearings etc. Am looking for e-brake cable setup, since most of the pieces are missing or worn..
Got the 400 back together with the 400 steel crank, and trans pulled for reinstall later on! Progressss!
