727 leak.

I had the 727 transmission in my Plymouth rebuilt before installing it. It leaks transmission fluid from what I think is the rear servo arm pivot. I've tried to seal the area with RTV but with no luck. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it? I really don't want to pull the transmission if I can fix it some other way.

Sure it's not the selector shaft seal ? Mine leaked after rebuild, fixed it with a seal kit from A&A trans

IF it’s the servo, jack up the rear, clean area real good,let dry, cover it with RTV sealer; should work.

If it is the selector shaft seal, what was your procedure for replacing it? There is also a seal for the throttle kick down just above it. Just curious as mine is leaking from the selector seal. Did you have to lower the trans to gain more access or have to remove the valve body? Thanks.

Trans stayed in the car, I just jacked up the car up, used a special tool from eBay that I got for less than $15.

I've tried that 3 times with no luck. I must not be getting it clean enough. I'll try again.

Drop the pan, drop the valve body and rear linkage. replace the o ring. Reassemble and adjust band.

You also have to remove the bolts for the tail shaft housing so you can rotate the housing , to slide out the shaft

Yes

You just have to rotate the tail shaft until the pin clears that stop or tab

It’s not difficult , just a little time consuming

Watch the tail shaft housing gasket

I used a block of wood on the trans pan when I used the clamp to squeeze the seal in. Make sure the wood is long enough to fit the pan from one end to the other. This is so won’t dent the pan.

Good luck, mine took about 15 to 20 mine.

Thanks to all of you! I love how helpful the people on here are. I'll probably try to replace the o-rings on the rear servo shaft this week if I get the time.

Exactly where my A100/727 is leaking, must have dumped 2 quarts out on the floor over the winter storage.

Rear servo shaft is either one or two o - rings - Chances are you will either find the o - ring missing or rock hard and brittle

I always swing by my local transmission shop for seals and o - rings

In reality you only have to slide it out far enough to get at the o - rings

I had a local trans shop tell me that they just brake off the tab and put in new o-rings and then epoxy over the shaft.
Not going back there.
