I know of several 850-cfm Thermoquads that may be for sale.
Sorry for my ignorance but I've never used a TQ and don't have any idea what they may be worth.
Can someone please school me? I know about their design and all - just not their worth.
Thanks!

I bought one last year that had been rebuilt for a project car that got cancelled for $50. Holleys usually get top dollar ($150-$300 used and in good condition, $100 needing a rebuilding), then Edelbrocks at about 20% less than the Holleys, and Carters at about half of what the Holleys bring.

The bigger problem is size. There isn't a lot of demand for 850 and above carbs as that's way too much gas for most engines to handle. 650s tend to sell the most quickly, with 750s being the most common. I've also been seeing the 670 CFMs becoming more popular as a bridge between the 650 and 750 carbs.

Thermoquads are like everything else in this hobby. Some people do nothing but swear at them, and others swear by them. Ask two people and one will say they are the biggest POS on the planet, and the other will say they will run circles around anything from Holley. I think the main issue is that Thermoquads were stock, while Holleys were seen as an aftermarket upgrade that you got just for the "cool" factor and fancy window decal more than performance.

Demand for Thermoquads was higher a few years back as restorers were snapping them up to replace Holleys that had been installed over the years, but with the resto business sinking more by the day, that demand is dropping too.

Google Thermoquad Carburetor for sale, like 9,280 results, prices all over the map, decent ones for $99 & trick ones for $300+, I didn't check out the junk ones.... they were available on many make or models & brands, big & small block versions & not just MoPar's either... Small Primaries & Large Secondaries, drive around on 350cfm & nail it to gat an added 500 cfm, a ba-whaaah air-sucking in the whole earth sound, that you'll never forget...LOL... much better than the Edelbrock Performer RPM, good luck

Just remember that Googling prices only shows what people are asking for them, not what they are getting for them. :)

Unless you have an aftermarket performance TQ or one for a rare application, I wouldn't pay much at all. Someone said $25.00 and I'll say that's about right!
