Hi all, currently replacing the tailshaft bushing on my a833 and wanted to ask if it matters if the notches on the new bushing face out or is driven in. I got the bushing and tools from brewers. Hoping to finish this tonight. Thanks

Thanks for the reply but im not talking about the oiling hole. I marked the trans as the old bushing came out for that part. This new bushing has two little cutouts on the one end that the original bushing did not

Thats why I posted what the FSM said. They make no mention of the notches because as I remember there were none. The original number was 2801724. These bushings are aftermarket and maybe another application requires the notches. So it most likely does not matter.

My Miller tool which is the factory driver has no tabs to fit a notch. Maybe an aftermarket driver has tangs to fit a notch. If your housing has no provisions for a notch drive it in.

Yea thanks for the reply, i just thought i would ask. Not sure why they have the tangs on it. I guess i'll go tangs in so they cant marr yoke in the middle i guess

I saw people put them in both ways but wanted to see which way was correct.

Just line up the oil hole,, that's the important part. The notches are on current bushings, not originals.

It really makes no difference which way. But I install them with the notches towards the rear of the transmission.

Thanks for the info everyone, got it installed and back together
