ACC carpet question about jute

I can’t remember if the last acc carpet I ordered had jute on it too.

I had a mass backer one.

Does anyone know if the normal cut pile version and the mass backer version also comes with jute (padding) attached to it too?

Would like to order today am looking for confirmation. @dadsbee , do you know/remember?

The "mass backer" is the grey ****, right? I bought a set back in the '80's which I still haven't installed. Has the grey **** ONLY. Jute was original.

I think it’s coming back to me now too. It was 2 years ago since I ordered one with mass backer and I’m remembering that yes it has jut too. I’d assume non-mass backer version has jute too?

I think they may have added since 35-40 years ago. I’m remembering now that it had both

The mass backer is like a $65.00 option so even without it it comes with the jute.

The standard carpet does come with jute attached, but it does not fully cover every square inch.

No it doesn’t….. the mass backing acts as a sound deadened agent and insulation with the jute placed in areas where wear is a problem.

Neither did original carpet. The jute is used to hide contours, protrusions, etc. as well as heat insulation and to deaden sound. So it wasn't 100% coverage. In particular there was no jute wherever a bolt went through (seat belts, seat frames, gas pedal) an it stopped away from the edges along the door sills and under the kick panels.

I just got ACC carpet with the mass backer for my 62, didn't come with jute.

I don't recall if you could add the jute with the mass backer, but I don't see the need.

I like it way more better than just the jute, and wish I had ordered it for my 64.

On another note, the carpet with the mass backer was much longer and wider, by a long shot.

Update: cutting the edges to fit, just carpet and thick rubber backing, cutting holes for inner seatbelts and gas pedal, jute either inbetween carpet and thick rubber backing or on outside. I don't recall seeing it on the outside, and I recently installed it, but I could be wrong.
