Hi all, I'm new to Mopar but have basic drag race/hotrodding background in brand x.

Car-65 Sat, 727, stock or mild converter, 3.55 gear.

This is a STREET car...must idle, must not stumble, must feel like a Cummins when I even tap the gas pedal. I don't care if it winds over 5000 rpm.

It has a 426 now and I can get a 440.

Please give me a basic combo for a max torque and decent mileage.

I'm not wanting to buy aluminum heads or stroker crank.

I've built wilder rides but this time I just want a easy to drive torquer. If I want more scoot for the day at the drags I'll just put on a 100hp plate and spray it..

thanks!!

the engine in my '69 r/t is a 440 with '906 heads (pocket port, stock size ferrea valves), stock intake/440 avs (with some mods) summit 6401 cam, kb184 pistons, stock converter, 3.23 rear, stock exhaust. drives real nice, decent mileage and lots of torque but doesn't like rpm. peak power in the 4500-5000rpm range. very decent cruiser.

my engine is also a 69 440HP... changed the cam EDE Performer, also MSD Ignition, Edelbrock Performer Intake... 650 AVS Carb ( but will change over to a TQ..) 3.23 rear..with stock Converter also.... Exhaust.. HP Manfolds 2 1/2 inch Magnaflow mufflers... MAKES A LOT OF FUN !!

Greetings Juergen

Performer RPM intake, Cheap headers,2.5" exhaust, 9.5-1,Eddy or Holley 650-750,[email protected] cam,Mopar factory electronic or used MSD 6, 10" converter, 3.55. Bowl porting the heads and a good valve job. A set of used Eddy performer heads might not be much more than the machine work on the 906 heads. Good rod bolts and a rod resize or at least a check of the big end size. Again aftermarket rods might not be that much more.
Good luck Doug

Look for the 12 second combo sticky threads in the racers forum and see my 440 build. Cheap, effective and uses mostly factory parts including the intake. Runs high 12's in a 4000 lb B body. Street tires don't stand a chance at getting traction. Blip the throttle and you're sideways.
