Advice on steering column coupler?

The shoes attach at the pin. Assume you have that assembly?
Yes, did u see the picture? I finally found a partial assembled coupler online, and appears mine is correct…. Either the new coupler body or the old, will not slide over the shoes

Since the coupler body slides over the shoes without the spring clip, i wonder if i need to remove a little material from the flat sides if the shoes?

It is not going to just drop on persay... You have to line up the coupler and gear box spline and start it then gently tap on. You don't want to shave the shoes as they will cause play and slop between coupler and steering components.

I haven’t got to the steering box spline yet…. I can’t get coupler onto steering shaft

Not the best pics, but what I had on my phone from doing it recently.. Clip goes under shoes look closely how shoes are oriented.
Place clip on pin 1st then place shoes, grease liberally and install coupler. Be sure to pack coupler before installing cover and hold down. If careful seal will stretch over roll pin without removal.
