Air Force Captain Commits Suicide?

I would tend to agree with Bruzilla's POV. Having said that, there are also other possibillities as well. In this case it is important for the authorities to thoroughly investigate and leave no stone unturned.

In the end lets just hope for the truth to come out.

You'd be shocked. Look up dead **** stars sometime. Tons of pretty girls gone.
I will admit quite a few under questionable situations as stated in this thread.

So I have to ask... How do you equate a dead **** star to an Air Force captain? Perhaps it's just me, but I'm missing the co-relation.

Might be "callous", might be "non compassionate", but if she did take her own life, I don't have any sympathy for it. So Steve from Staten Island, don't look down on me for saying what/how I feel, about suicide. We all have our opinions, some good, some bad, but they are only opinions, not "factual" by any stretch.

I don't look down on you. I wonder why you would even say that. I don't agree with your opinion and i think what you wrote was callous and especially cruel, thats all.

Treated like a queen my ***. http://www.navytimes.com/story/mili...bmarine-wyoming-women-camera-shower/19827247/

I have to say, it's a little eye-opening to see the sexist comments in this thread over a person who apparently killed herself. I think a little respect is in order.

My wife was in the exact same job in the exact same place about two tours prior to this woman. It was NOT a good spot for a woman and NOT safe. Women get assaulted all the time while deployed, especially in the Army (whom she was working with while deployed) and Marines. I do not doubt for a second that this woman was assaulted while deployed.

I will agree that the details seem sketchy and perhaps a little inconsistent with the majority of suicide cases... but like someone already said, you can't get in the mind of someone that is at that point. You can't make it make sense; they are beyond that.

It's a sad story and a sad state of affairs that allowed this woman to be assaulted, then made her feel that she had nowhere to go. The military has a long way to go, and let me tell you, more CBTs and SAPR down-days aren't going to cut it.

In sprite of some comments to the contrary, life for an attractive woman in the military is not a cakewalk even at the officer level. Sexual assault is an untreated rampant disease in the military for both men and women. Untreated PTSD and depression are killers. Family and friends apparently feel that there were signs in retrospect, even if the location and method seemed unorthodax, and they are usually most unwilling to accept a suicide verdict.

I'm struggling with a question that luckily, for me, I'll never have to answer. How would you feel if your daughter just graduated from high school and said "Dad, I'm thinking about joining the military". Like most parents, I would support whatever my kid decided to do, but I would certainly have some reservations.
I was in the Air Force a long time ago and the unit I was in didn't have many female personnel, but I know for a fact that some of the WAFs where I was stationed weren't always treated with respect. Very seldom were any of the offenders disciplined. I'm not sure how much that culture has changed.
So, I'm interested. What would your advice be?

I never figured out how someone with zero experience in law enforcement can form a opinion based on what is reported in the media and from some unrelated remote experience. Frankly i have no idea what happened but i do trust the authorities who will most certainly investigate this tragic event and make a report.
