Alternator bracket too short for Powermaster

Except the alternator is mounted upside down. The adjustment bracket should be on top?? It appesrs to be on an LA engine......

Incorrect sir. The alternator is mounted correctly. It is indeed an LA... 340, to be exact. Maybe you're thinking big block?

No, he probably doesn’t know all the mounting variations made along the years on each block, so is assuming your setup is wrong based on that.
