Always think outside the Box - Blasting Cabinet that is...

What's with the fan on top Wayne?
Yeah mine's a bit loud but I just use my wireless headphones with some Metallica or some Joan Jett cranked. Come in handy and they do work nicely. No complaints here. And the I blast right in front of the compressor. 8' Flexzilla 1/2" hose. The compressor doesn't cycle that much. I only blast around 35psi. The beads and a #4 nozzle seam to work best around there. YMMV
My vacuum pickup is at the other end than your guys. I'm blasting away from my exhaust and towards my intake. Less loss of media to the filtration system.

When it comes time I'm gona grab one of these. They have them in various dimensions just down the road. 5" hole saw and Bobs your uncle. Use these in the fishing boats all the time. Not a bad price and water tight. Helps to be surrounded by water and ice. View attachment 1045518
Computer fan is just stored there Kent.. another almost flat spot!! LOL As for the deck access covers I have dozens of them as I build aircraft floats.

Gotya Wayne. Any flat surface will do. lol I thought it might have been some sort of intake fan. I was kind of wondering how you had it wired in. lol
Yeah I haven't had a need for longer cabinet. I did my torsion and sway bar and leafs outside with a the sand blaster. Drive shaft left. Another outside job. But one of these days I could see me taking out the hole saw and making the cabinet longer for sure. And I always planned on using those nice little hatches. Clean finished look.

Yes Holy thread revival Batman!
Had to do some digging, but was able to find this thread.
Finally took the leap and made a great big hole in the side of the cabinet. Turned out not to bad. Have to figure out what I'm going to use as a stretchy rubber material that can be used as a gasket/stop for the media not to blow out past the hole when using this thing. Something like a rubber glove. Cut a slit in it and stick the part out. Like a axel ??
A few shots of the process...

A piece of rubber inner tube, with a slit in it, stapled in place.

We actually had a three sided wood frame around the holes in ours, with a piece of wood with a knob on it to slide into place. Worked like the blockoff plate on a doggie door.

Get some IBC totes and a camper door and build a industrial size blasting cabinet!

Have a pair of gloves, or a few pairs? Or do you just get right in?
