American Tourque thrust rim

I have a chance to get 2 15x8 American Torque thrust 11 part number VN615 back spacing is 4.50.Any thing bad with the ATT RIMS, have seen several for sale her and other sites,why.please help with your thoughts,i cant waist money.cheers.

You probably see a lot for sale because it's easily the most popular rim out there... more sold = more offered up for sale. The downside is they're likely cast aluminum which never holds up as well as billet or forged. Keep them clean, waxed and out of the salt and they'll last plenty long

These are without a doubt "the wheels of wheels" when it comes to a retro look without going to chromed steelies. I think with the advent of disk brakes for older cars sporting drum systems, all after market disk brake manufacturers keep this size in mind. If there's a downside to any aluminum rim it is the previous owners failure to mount them properly. Torque sticks, torque guns and anything else other than a proper torque wrench on the right setting can cause mushing and cracking where the wheel nuts contact the rim. The proper nuts should have spin washers, anything else used, check closely in this area.

Also, a set of concentric wheel rings to locate the wheel properly on the hubs are a good idea. Fairly cheap.

I would get them with that back spacing if the price is right. That is usually the issues with these wheels. Usually not enough back space whenever I see them for sale. I wouldn't mind a set someday but have always been more of a Cragar S/S guy myself.

Then there is the issue with trying to find the front wheels to match. There seems to be a lot of variation depending on age. I have a buddy that has 3 sets (all 14" though) & all 3 sets are different slightly from one another in appearance, center caps etc.

Best wheel going but I like old school. The look is right, care is easy and having the right backspace is all you need. Enjoy them

got am e mail from American raceing yesterday,ask for part numbers for the 15x8 torque thrust 11 for the rear of the 71 they gave me the number vn6155865 not the vn6155866 witch i thought i would need, but the back spacing on the 865 is 3.79.0 not the 4 or the 4.50 witch i thought i would need,did they goof up?

I have the 15x8 with a 4.5 back space on the rear but my car is a 64 440. I also believe that a lot of these folks have the same rim and size on their cars of all makes and models. I would ask why they want to sell you that size.

I bought a set of staggered wheels, I have 8x15 in the rear with 4.5" back space. 275/60r15
The fronts are 15x7 with 4.25 back space running a 235/70r15. The rears fit perfectly with no issues at all. My new wheels on the front are really close to upper a-arm, but clear with no issues now. My old 15x8 wheel set with 4.5 BS was super close to the front a-arm and would knock off the balance weights.

Not trying to be a stickler here, just some fyi from real time back in the day. By far, we replaced factory wheels with Cragar SS more than any other. Yeah, there were fentons, torq-thrust, ansen slots, chrome reverse, etc. I think they all look great. Cragar SS AND torq-thrust are my favorites.
