I'm glad I asked someone who knows. I would never have figured that out....What comes after R-12, R-13, and R-14 ?
I like your license plate! Welcome aboard.
I am the original owner of the car, and it was there the day I picked it up at the dealer. Maybe it's a dealer mark, but I would say it was done at the factory. Thought someone else out there might have seen a similar mark before.Doesn't look factory to me
Thank you, DeltaV! Glad to be here. Thanks for the comment about the plate. Seems like every time I stopped for gas, somebody would come over and say "Zat Chahjah f'sale?" Seemed like an appropriate word to use on the plate. And no, the car is not for sale...I like your license plate! Welcome aboard.
How about introducing yourself and car over here:

Thanks for the input, but I don't think that is the answer for "R-15". There is another mark similar to that on the radiator support that says "-20". Just to the left of that is a yellow sticker that addresses the servicing of the radiator and states to "-20". There is a place for the dealer to indicate it has been checked, but that is not filled out with anything. It could have been either Chrysler or the dealer that attached the sticker and marked the "-20", but I would like to know for sure. And still, what is "R-15"?I also agree it doesn't look factory. My best guess is while someone was checking the antifreeze, they wrote that on there. The R is for radiator and -15 degree as far as the antifreeze.
Well, one of the things I special-ordered with the car was the 14" steel road wheels with Firestone Wide-Oval redline tires. They weren't radials. Radial tires still weren't common in 1969.Someone probably marked that to indicate the tires required - maybe all 4 were to be installed.
R15 = Radial 15"
I do that, too, since they all seem to be different. I don't know how it would relate to the filter size, though.Oil filter size? I write the drain wrench size on my regular every day cars
