Any Guitar collectors here?

Thanks J.G. Mine was a bit different but it had been reworked before I got it. The headstock was the larger traditional Gibson & the body was routed for humbucking pick ups. That one has single coils, look same physical shape & size as as Stratocasters use, which honestly I had never seen in a Gibson body before,,,,usually they use P-90 for single coils which are rectangular, if they're not using double coil humbuckings.
The slimness of the body is like the one I had. Not as thick as a standard SG....my neck was also very shallow.

top right and yes I remember those days with the dam turtle necks playing also everyone had to dress a like :upyours:

You actually nailed it !
Only thing you can't see is the in line Fender tuner....!
I run 3 over drives for various levels of drive.....
I love fast women, fast cars, and guitars that stay in tune!
Oh....and whiskey. ...I love whiskey!

Edit: the wha is a Vox.....
I'm running a combination of a Fender Twin and a Blues Jr stacked....more Jr than Twin. A small amp cranked up is always better than a big amp down low.....

Jeff
The pedal was my most unsure guess...the chrome trim bugged me. I ran an SD-1 o.d. in front of a DS-1 distortion for a time in days of yon. Now I have H & K Warp, a boutiqued RAT & a U.S. Dream.
Totally on same page with You about a small tube amp cranked vs a big tube turned down. a fifteen watt tuber cranked is plenty for a moderate club venue. Tubes need to be @ least 60% saturation before the sweet spot comes forth. If it's a 100 watt head in a small space, ears are going to bleed looking for the sweet spot.
I much prefer EL-34 & EL-84 power tubes to 6L6 power tubes.

My guess on Sonny- rear center

My Fender twin doesn't get into the sweet spot until about "4" and at that volume the windows start rattling.

It needs tubes and I might just try Blade's suggestion.

Do I want groove tubes or sovtek?

This amp was my uncle's, and at some point it looks like he replaced the speakers with some monster magnet (look to be about 60+ oz) sequential serialized Kustom/Altec James B.Lansing signature series.

Yes, they have all three names on them and are sequential serial numbers.

far right:popcorn2:

Any of you guys seen this interview with EVH? Interesting stuff. Guitar related of course.

...mostly used a 1964 Fender Showman, with twin bottoms (2) JBL15's..."hot-wired"..depending on the venue .....

My only guitar, that I learned to play on when I was in grade 8. My Mother bought it from Sears in 1944 when she was 18 years old.

Why my fingers are so tough.. from trying to push the strings down on that bugger. Not sure how my Mother ever did it! Picture of her with guitar, is out on the fire escape of the Peterborough Ontario YMCA 1945 when the soldiers had come home and were marching down George Street.

We have 20+ autographed wall-hangers. A couple are good guitars, but most are pawn-shop deals on decent stuff. We take them to meet and greets. The coolest one, is probably our Zakk Wylde/bull's-eye replica...with both Zakk and OZZY's autographs on it.

Fender Twin I believe is 6L6 power tubes & The pin pattern is different than EL-34/EL-84...but 7027 is same pin pattern, they are softer than 6L6, will break up earlier than 6L6. You will probably have to have amp rebiased to run different power tubes.
Been a minute since I had my head in deep, I'm running digital & solid state gear now. I believe Mesa sources Sovtek tubes & have a very hi rep for matched sets.
I would choose Sovtek over Groove Tube(Chinese).
Another Russian tube mfg'r is JJ.

I don't know why links fucked up, but just Google Mesaboogie vacuum tubes & JJ vacuum tubes.

I’ve got a handwired ceriatone (Marshall 100 w jmp clone) purple plexi that I built that doesn’t hit that sweetspot until about 11! Window breaking, Ear bleeding.

I’m actually thinking about buying a twin reverb! I’ve always liked that tone you get from them..

This is the band days a”few” years ago.. rough recording. We weren’t using good recording stuff in those days. Talk about 80’s guitars! Fun to play! Several pics in the clip f band mates and pics of live performance where we played the tune..

As far as collecting really goes, I’m up to about 14 guitars none really “collectible” vintage type except the gold top les Paul and the 80’s Kramer Baretta and the Gibson V. The rest are players. Then there are the 8 amps too.. 1 good early Marshall Jtm45 plus too many pedals and efx to count! Lol! Obtw, wife doesn’t know about half of it!

We saw Rick Springfield a few months ago.

Even though he had a lead player, Rick did about a 5 minute guitar solo.

Just as I was coming to the same conclusion, my wife leaned over and said "he sounds like you!"

That was kinda odd.

My twin is a non-master vol.
You have to get it to at least 4 to get any grit.
IIRC it takes 2 ax/at12 and 4 6LS6
That amp would be a great club amp for a blues/rockabilly gig.

My Marshall gets in the zone just over "2".
It has the easiest controllable feedback I've ever played.
"Judas Priest endings" are actually fairly easy.
Again, Thanks, Linda!

I just missed a red knob Fender 60w for $60.
Sat on the shelf for months until I played it and set it up.
Decided I liked it and went back to get it the next day- gone.

I really dig guitars, and envy those who took the time to learn to play. I just never took the time to learn. Too many other time-consuming interests. sigh
