Any Guitar collectors here?

Fender Twin I believe is 6L6 power tubes & The pin pattern is different than EL-34/EL-84...but 7027 is same pin pattern, they are softer than 6L6, will break up earlier than 6L6. You will probably have to have amp rebiased to run different power tubes.
Been a minute since I had my head in deep, I'm running digital & solid state gear now. I believe Mesa sources Sovtek tubes & have a very hi rep for matched sets.
I would choose Sovtek over Groove Tube(Chinese).
Another Russian tube mfg'r is JJ.
Links for Mesa & JJ

I don't know why links fucked up, but just Google Mesaboogie vacuum tubes & JJ vacuum tubes.
you are so right!, 6L6 GC's ...used to keep a case...lol!

I really dig guitars, and envy those who took the time to learn to play. I just never took the time to learn. Too many other time-consuming interests. sigh

What kind of music do you like?

If it's rock...

Go get a $150 Guitar and amp combo from Guitar Center (although I actually like the cheap Gibson (Epiphone) guitars better and the cheap Fender amps better).

Learn the "power chord" (AKA "Black Sabbath chord"), open E minor, A minor, D, C and G.

That's 80% of all rock right there.

I taught my self by playing along with Judas Priest's "British Steel".

Relatively easy to learn and solid, solid timing and song structure lessons.

Plus, everybody knows "Breaking the Law" and "Livin' After Midnight".

Hell, the lead in Midnight is fairly easy, and there actually is no lead in Breaking the Law!

...and some rock albums give you "easter eggs"

The bell in "Hell's Bells" is "A" and the bell in "For Whom The Bell Tolls" is "E".

Tune to those and you're set for those albums.

...but buy a decent $20 digital tuner anyway, and learn to tune with harmonics!

...and palm muting.

Learn palm muting.

Absolute must.

..and nothing screams "newbie" louder than being out of tune real bad or ringing open strings when playing anything.

LOL!! nothing drives me more crazy than to be out of tune and or intonation is messed up! I do go easy on the newbs though!

Used to have about 7 Guitars at a time. Jackson Rhodes, Jackson Strat, Gibson SG, fenders, couple Ibanez, couple nice acoustics and the only one I kept was a 76 Les Paul custom.

Played a lot until I had an motorcycle accident and smacked the back of my left hand on the ground and busted a bone right below my wrist. Got a bone boss where the index finger tendon runs... can't play much or it swells up like crazy. So i sold all my amps and equipment. Still like to pick up the LP and mess around, it sounds rough though!!!

Not as fancy as Danny’s but was a pain in the butt to build and get playing! But now it’s one of my favorites and sounds like a beast.. I just had to build it..

I bought this one from Ed's guitar tech many years ago, it was built from EVH's spare parts.....

Strat.jpg

1996 Mexican Strat with EMG Kirk Hammet EMG Active Pickups (My Baby). The acoustic is a Nashville built Copley and is a great player too. The taller amp is a Marshall quarter stack and the combo amp is an old Crate with two 50 watt speakers

I saw that when you had it listed a while ago..fantastic “frankenstrat” so iconic really! I looked hard at my bank account and thought...a great collectible guitar or a good start on a 512 stroker for the charger! I pieced my 5150 copy together after I got the engine done. Real parts not copies either.. painted myself. Plays really great and sounds awesome. Probably on of my favorites next to my Les Paul goldtop..

My '86 Charvel model 2 spoiled me to that neck shape for decades.

But my 2005-ish Schecter has nearly the same shape and it has a real Floyd Rose.

My 'driver' is a 1987(purchased NOS in 1992) Fender Squire ll Strat mfg'd by Samick(Korean). Installed Schaller machines & Seymour Duncan rail pickups. Neck cool rail, middle cool rail, bridge hot rail. Replaced volume pot & pu selector switch with American hardware. I blocked the tremolo bridge. The neck is very shallow & headstock is an odd size compared to other Strats, larger than original traditional, but smaller than CBS style headstock.
The Les Paul copy is a 2004 Greg Bennett Design, Samick Avion ll(Korean) mahogany archtop with flame maple cap.(bought new)The craftsmanship & finish of this axe is exquisite, blows contemporary off the rack Gibson into the weeds.
Machines are Grover. It came with Seymour designed humbuckings. i had a D'Armond reissue Gold Tone pickup installed in neck & slid the Seymour neck into bridge. Last year took the Seymour out of bridge & had a Bill Lawrence 'Wylde' rail pu installed in place. Also replaced are the neck & bridge volume pots to Stewart McDonald push/pull & the neck tone pot is replaced with SM push/pull. The volume pots switch between series & parallel wiring on respective pu coil banks. The neck tone p/p pot when pulled, cancels one bank on the D'Armond turning it into a single coil.
It is a sweet guitar but such a pain in the *** to keep clean, so it spends a lot more time in the case than the Strat. Also the Strat is more comfortable.

@Bladecutter

let's see a closeup of your LP copy.

is that some kind of burgundy/black cherry color?

I like it.

I agree a strat design is more comfortable for me to play, both shape-wise and balance-wise,
but my SG is pretty comfortable too.

That Matsumoku I have is almost a Les Paul copy. It's very heavy and plays as good as any "real" LP I've played.
("Uncle Mat" made models for a lot of different brands including Vox, Aria Pro, Electra/Westone, and what I have, which is a Westbury)

RE: Melody Maker, I believe that was Gibson's "no frills" line.

A couple of years ago I almost bought a Melody Maker flying V.
No edge binding, bolt on neck, and only a bridge pickup.
If only it hadn't been brown...

@440+6

Are those Mustangs?

A friend had a mint baby blue one back in the 80's

Yes I have two mustangs, the red one is oct 1964 within a month of the first mustang made, the sunburst is a 1972, the 64 is excellent and the 72 is mint condition.

I'm not at home right now to take pictures, I'll get back to You later on that. The color is what I would call a deep burgundy wine.
I agree with You about Melody Maker...MM SG was a very slim body & very shallow neck but it was the traditional Gibson headstock with pearl inlay, not the smaller headstock most used MM SGs...I think!
