Any ideas on this issue??

Hi, well i see you tried the wooden dowel, that works if there is parts contacting each other (metal rod or pry bar works better,) if its a vacuum leak or belt a length of hose works better to transfer sound, keep it straight no bends, works like speaking to another person through a tube.
You may be able to get a better location.

Oh, a whistling base plate gasket can make a bunch or different sounds.

Yes def did the ol' long screwdriver (stethoscope) trick. Cant quite pinpoint it. When I get some free time I'll see if there is anyway I can eliminate some other items. It's certainly not any sort of vacuum leak. It's a squeal for sure. Hopefully it's not a main bearing...

Try a piece of garden hose. it eliminates most sound except at the open end. keep it straight no bends.

Thanks for the tip. Never tried the garden hose but I believe I am accomplishing the same thing with a screwdriver, although I am curious to try. I also have an actual stethoscope that I bought a while back just for this sort of thing. Have yet to try it out but will do soon enough. Thanks!

A screw driver will show things that are contacting such as a spun bearing, rocker, fuel pump rod. However if the sound IS NOT coming from unwanted contact such as a belt squeal or carb gasket would be. A tube will allow the sound to travel to your ear like talking to another person thought a pipe. Thanks

I've seen some weird noises coming from a cracked flex X plate before. Usually crack around where it bolts to the crank shaft and not to the torque converter. But can see them with the cover off. Good luck.
