Anyone heard from @deltaV

No internet. I have fiber.

4G LTE popped up as active and I jumped on and then it died. Popped up again a few minutes ago. Horribly slow loading.

Lost power on September 27 around 01:00 eastern time. It's still out. The last update from Georgia Power was on October 1st and they said restoration of power by 22:00 on Saturday, October 5th...that would be late today. I'm not holding my breath. I am in the boonies.

A friend from Florida sent this earlier today:

Yikes. So you may get nailed again??

We need to exchange phone numbers. It might not do any good with so much electricity and cell phone service that is out.

The next task at hand is uprooted and snapped off trees everywhere on my property. It was like dominos...one tree takes down several others. What a mess.

I hate some of the uprooted ones as they hang at like 45 degrees suspended in the air. Maybe the next storm will polish them off.

No damage to the house, pets, barn, cars, or etc.

Now that's good to hear.

Glad your back and hope you can stay Wayne, Praying Kirk will die out. The Country can not deal with another hit right now. :praying:

Milton is the next one to cause major problems.

The governor of Florida has declared a state of emergency ahead of Hurricane Milton, which could bring Category 3 winds and surge, or worst, to the Florida peninsula.

Areas at the greatest risk are communities still reeling from last month’s Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Ian in 2022.

The state of emergency includes the following counties: Brevard, Broward, Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, DeSoto, Flagler, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Indian River, Lake, Lee, Manatee, Marion, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Putnam, Sarasota, Seminole, St. Johns, St. Lucie, Sumter and Volusia.

Glad to hear you and everyone there is ok. I'll refrain from turning this political.

A few examples, but it's difficult to capture the scale and magnitude. You may need to zoom in on some of the pics.

First pic is tree that snapped high up.

The above picture is an example of the leaning ones that will fall randomly across the roads for the next few months. They usually fall after a good soaking of the ground for a few days and sometimes helped down by thunderstorm winds.

Some of the large one dropped hard even though they were somewhat protected from direct winds by surrounding trees.

Thats what Aiken SC looks like, be careful Wayne I know you like to hike. Those are widow makers my friend. Thanks for the pics.

The large leaning ones (partially uprooted) near my house will not strike it when they fall / I help them fall. I have one tree that I don't really trust. I'll have to implement some rigging to make it fall tangential to my house.

A professional arborist wants $11,000 to take it down along with a handful of nearby large diameter leaners. Removal and cleanup included. He's good. I used him a couple of years ago to take down/away some dangerous trees that were nearly dead. They were like 80 feet tall.
