Anyone in LA ? be safe

I was working on Maui yesterday. I drove through Lahaina. 1 1/2 years after the fire very little to no new construction going on. It will be many more years before things get back to some form of normal. I would imagine LA will be the same or worse.

I would think most will move, who can wait for 3 plus years to rebuild their home.

I think Maui is a different unique animal.

They were building here much sooner than that for the Woolsey and Thomas fires in Malibu and Ventura.

LA has one of the largest city infrastructures to support building. Maybe even in the country. Just today they named some developer to head the rebuild in Palisades.

Cities like Malibu and Ventura don't have that sort size scale to absorb the influx of quantity of new builds. And still a little city like Ventura got things going within months.

City of Alta Dena is managed by LA County. They're big, but not the size of LA when it comes to stuff like this.

I was there last year too, was surprised that basic cleanup hadn't started. Burned cars in driveways etc. Are they still detouring around that section?

All the road blocks manned by the national guard are down. Most if not all of the debris cleared. I only saw one construction site where a new building was being constructed, it was not a single family home being built.
