I have aquired an Edelbrock STR for a 440 and was wondering if anybody hear has had any experience with one. It came with the single 4 top but I was looking at making a dual 4 crossram top.

I've read in the old Direct Connection manual about epoxying pop sickle sticks in certain places and jetting for the single 4 top but not much is written about the crossram application.

Tell me what you know!!

Nope,,, you don't want it........
You have decided to sell it cheaply to 67 B-body.....
You can go about your business now.....
Move along,,, move along!!!!!

Yes,,, I like StarWars (twisted excerpt from the movie)...... And the looks of the STR intakes!!!!

I ran one back in the 80's with a 6 pak top in my '70 Road Runner. Drove it on the street and it was a little boggie on the bottom end. 4.56 gears and a 4 speed helped. Did the popsickle stick mods. I switched to all mechanical linkage and got rid of the vacuum pots which made it alot more responsive down low. Once you got it rolling it was a torque monster from about 3500 to 6500. It definitely had the WOW factor when you lifted the hood.

67 b-body........your right, I don't want it............and since your 67 sucks so bad........I'm willing to help you if you help me!

I am willing to trade you straight up, manifold for car. And I would even throw in a pair of carbs............even though you'd get the better end of the deal.

And because your 67 is so horrible looking i'm willing to help you out and bring you the intake and carbs for no charge.....and while I'm there I'll load up the 67 and get it outa your sight so you don't have to suffer anymore.

cause thats what friends do!

I've always wanted a cross ram and when I had a chance to get this cheap I thought I could have a pour mans max-wedge intake for a 440. I have the ability to build and machine a cross ram top and was wondering if there was any special dividers/modifications needed for this tyle of top?

I ran a single 4 BBL for a short time and it was impressive with the small roller cam I had, but it was no where near it's optimum. In short, they are a fuel distribution nightmare. They can also be prone to fuel puddling and one good back fire might blow the lid apart. There are two base versions of that intake so will need to know which one you have. I have the modification diagrams for the different tops too. I have one that I'm saving to possibly resurrect that roller cam motor from the 80's, but hopefully with better results. The only way you will get that jetted correctly is with a thermocouple or an O2 sensor in each header primary tube and a dyno or track time.

They look cool. I was contemplating one because the visual impact is so high, but the tuning issues I read about were just too much of a detractor. Good luck and post photos when she's up and running!
