I'm a geologist. I got my master's degree from Wichita State University. We mainly dealt with sedimentary rocks because that's where the oil and gas reserves are found. Of course we all had to take a bunch of physics, chemistry, and upper level mathematics.

My other degree is in product design from KU. I know that's a weird combination.

Science dictates so much of my life from how cars work to politics to social issues. It sometimes leads me to opinions that are not socially acceptable to bring up in conversations. But to me facts are facts.

Since you’re from Colorado I think you should change your screen name to Randy.

I'm an aerospace engineer. My wife likes to tell people that I'm a rocket scientist. I say, no, I'm an engineer and the difference is a couple of decimal places.

I could have been a sanitation engineer by trade,if I had stayed in college!

My nephew is a geologist, he is one of the most interesting people I know. I mean that in a very good way, he is so much fun to talk to. He works for an oil company in charge oil the drilling operation. He works continuously he will text me screen shots of drilling at 3 am. He sleeps when ever he gets a chance. I would love to spend some time with him when he is in location.
I am not a scientist, I am a fixer, a diagnostic person. I have been all of my life.

Ok, I guess I'll reveal my true identity here.

I’m a civil engineer (BS and not the stuff you step in) from KU. We are known as a jack of all trades but a master of none.

I DO take a black light with me on oil wells. My microscope has a black light feature. Oil, much like the stuff you are referring to shows up under a black light since they are both organic. Colorado has more academically interesting geology but there's no oil in the mountains. One of Colorado's biggest exports is rocks. Marble (the Washington Monument) and granite. I bought a snazzy metal detector and would like to hunt for gold. We go on mountain trail rides with our dirt bikes and visit abandoned mines. The tailings are a good place to hunt.

Like the radio show, Ask Dr. Science.

The show's motto is "He knows more than you do." The sketch always concludes with the disclaimer that he is "not a real doctor," although Dr. Science insists he has "a Master's Degree... in science!"

There's a few guys around here that act like they are brain surgeons! :BangHead:
