Underside is almost complete. I am really liking how clean this looks,particularly...No big collector for headers-straight down off the exhaust manifiold and straight back to the "X". I don't think I am giving up very much by not having headers and I certainly won't miss what could be gained, not to mention the cost.
Behind the obvious great work here, is my sincere admiration for the Time available to do this, and, AND the funds available to do this too! THAT'S the real story here, because I have limited time, and, limited funds...as we all do! Love this thread!
Darius, this is such a cool car, with so many custom features and tweaks. Great work, great vision and great thread! Thanks again for sharing with us and helping us all in the process! I hope the car far exceeds your expectations!
Well, the car is going to the upholstery shop in the morning and I am going to Maui for 2 weeks of WARMTH! Here is a pic I took today of the engine compartment with everything from the 07 Charger stuffed in it except the anti lock brake system and a custom radiator fill tank. Still have some connections to make and some parts to paint but this is pretty much it. I will have some awesome pics by the time I get back.
We used a product designed toa paint over vinyl. I want to say Sen? Paints but I am not alt the shop so I can't look at the can. First step is to clean well and I used a product painters. Use to wipe a car before painting. Next step is a spray on etch like product that helps the final paint stick then we just sprayed it like any other paint final coat was a satin clear coat which really brought the color I wanted out
Started this baby up today, once we got the fuel pressure correct it fired right up and purred like a kitten. Did absolutely NOTHING to that engine except put new injectors in it. Hooked up the wire harness to the factory computers and shazamm!
Ran short of trans fluid tonite so did not move it but you could tell it went in gear by the lag on the rpm when we shifted it. Did not push that until we get the fluid right.
YEEEEEE HAAAAAA!
I am trying to attach a video, I hope it works..... sorry, site won't upload an avi file and that is what my camera made.
Dynomax VT mufflers on 2 3/4 exhaust with an X pipe. Straight down off the factory 5.7 exhaust manifolds.
It sounds awesome, quiet until you get on it then progressively badder sounding as RPMs increase. Nice little rumble at idle.
I am beyond stoked, was beginning to wonder if I would ever see/hear this day.
Here is a link to my facebook page where it uploaded if anyone is interested. never sounds as good on a small camera mic as they do in person though. https://www.facebook.com/darius.baker.969
Got the fluid in the transmission this morning and it "limped" forward and backward. Next hurdle, and one of the last actually, will be to get speed sensors mounted and dialed in.
Got ALL of the lights hooked up today and turned on the heater. EVERYTHING worked the first time with zero issues. How cool, I am so blown away to finally be to this point. It is almost unreal.
