Beatles

Even tho I liked the Beatles, I also like a lot of other stuff that was out back then like the 13th Floor Elevators.....Bloodrock too.

Speaking of the 13th Floor Elevators, Roky Erickson is touring right now. I'm going to see him in Atlanta next Saturday, the 22nd.

I tuned in part way through the show and listened to an interview with Paul and Ringo. Then it went to some band trying to sing and they were so bad, I immediately changed the channel. Maybe I should have watched a little longer.

There was a plethora of Beatles cover songs, it's just not the same as the Beatles, Bunch of geriatric & wanta-be rockers doing their thing...

I love Roky Erickson and the 13th Floor Elevators. I pretty much have everything he's recorded with the Elevators and solo, official releases and bootlegs. I got to see him in LA a few years ago and hope to see him again.

I have the Bloodrock 2 album but the only song on it I listen to is "DOA".

George Harrison's son played guitar early in the show. Sean and Julian Lennon were both there, I think. All have musical talent. Too bad they couldn't get the sons of the deceased Beatles on stage with the two remaining Beatles for at least one song. For that matter, if they ever decided to do a charity concert, bet they would clean up.

The CBS Special on the 9th of February (50 years to the day of the Beatles first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show) was pretty decent although I didn't know any of the bands that were doing the cover versions of famous Beatles songs. I turned down the sound though when David Letterman came on to do his few bits with the boys. (I'm more a Jay Leno fan) Even though the program lasted for 2 hours and 30 minutes, they didn't go deep into the back catalog of Beatles tunes, which was disappointing. Note to the CBS executives: more guitar strumming and less yakkity- yak.And what's with the floor director cutting in to frequent shots of Tom Hanks nodding his head and snapping his fingers? I hadn't heard that he was a musician in any way; why did they keep showing him on TV?
