Beginning my 68 super bee restoration

The hood came with the car. I don't have the original hood. Also what do you mean by the stripes? I don't know the color or even if it had them as the build sheet was mouse crap and the fender tag was rusted beyond readable.

My pic shows a '68 Bee with 1969 stripe. You know the difference, right?
Oh, and yes, '68 Bees had the bumblebee stripe. All of them, as far as I know.

Nope don't know the difference. But I was going to throughly research the stripes before I bought anything.

I was at work yesterday and the wife of the previous owner came in and gave me a bag of paperwork . In the bag was the remnants of the build sheet , a registration from 1975 , and a description of the original fender tag! I was told that the fender tag had disintegrated but they copied what they could. Pretty awesome

Take your time and take plenty of pictures. I am surprised how the car looks after cleaning it off. Think we all have been down this road. It does not happen overnight believe me. If it is a one man job your in for a long journey. Good luck and a nice looking project.

welcome starting a 68 rt myself all apart years ago like yours will follow you and read others advice , like your tent never seen on like it before , should take the snow load .

It's a rock solid shelter brand. It's the super duty one. I paid to much for it lol but it is awesome.

Yep doing it all myself in a tent in my back yard. Hopefully I can have it properly painted at a shop. I can lay on primer but not a top coat.

what a coincidence my last registered and licensed year was 1975 here in Canada dont know it was taken apart but was back then sometime .

It's been a bit since I last updated. It's been getting cold and dark earlier. It's hard to go out in a tent and work.
I finally got the outer cowl panel on and the hole in the piller patched. I threw some primer on for now to keep it from rusting. I'm pretty happy with how it came out.

It's been awhile since I updated this build. I haven't done anything to the body since its winter here and I'm working in a tent.
I have been working on the under dash wiring harness. I went through the whole thing and fixed a few spots and also replaced the terminals in the fuse box.

Started digging in to my 4spd. Found some broken teeth on the 3-4 slider. The reverse idler is banged up too.( I'm guessing reverse burn outs.)
The syncros and the slider hubs are also toasty. I also found a broken bolt in the shifter mount. Heli-coils are amazing things! What muscle car 4spd wasn't beat on back then? Lol. I ordered a bunch of parts and soon it will be good as new. Questions for everyone. What color was the transmission painted? Was the bellhousing painted engine color? Thanks for the comments so far. Finally got the transmission put back together. Took awhile for the parts to come in. I'm going to finish assembly and paint it next.

Transmission is all rebuilt. Very happy with how it came out. Next on the mechanical list is going to be the 383.

Actually Ed, when I bought mine ; there were 6 sitting in a row by the garage. One was blue with no stripes, just the circle & Bee.(all 6 were gone in a month!)

Got the shifter I have on and adjusted. It works ok. I did some investigating and it's a hurst super shifter for muncie and t10. It has the numbers 8779 stamped on the front of the body. I'm assuming this isn't going to work for a 68 superbee no console and and bench seat. Anyone familiar with this particular setup? Thanks
