Didn't the 68 Dart have limited option 383s and Hemi's?

Muscle car is a term used to refer to a variety of high-performance automobiles.[SUP][1][/SUP] The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines muscle cars as "any of a group of American-made 2-door sports coupes with powerful engines designed for high-performance driving."[SUP][2][/SUP] A large V8 engine is fitted in a 2-door, rear wheel drive, family-style mid-size or full-size car designed for four or more passengers. Sold at an affordable price, muscle cars are intended for mainly street use and occasional drag racing.[SUP][[/SUP]

Yes, I am fully aware of the textbook definition of muscle car. My personal feeling on it is if you could get a factory big block in a "pony" car they stopped being pony cars. I consider Camaro's and Mustangs with factory installed big block muscle cars too. When you put that extra weight up front the pony car lost its basic identity IMO. Not to mention the E body was just a shortened version of the B body anyway. The only place it had to go from there, again just my opinion, was into the muscle car category. Regarding the dart GTS, being an a-body and a total butcher job to get those BB's into them I could just never consider that a muscle car.

I am not trying to convince anyone, that is just my feelings on it. I suppose in retrospect I should just asked best looking 60's-70's mopar.

No harm no foul.
Good thread.
GO CHALLENGER!!!!
Damit, nobody is voting for the Chally. I like what I like.
I'll still take the 69 RR over the 70 RR but the 70 is hot.
Not sure if it's a 71 but just look at it. C'mon.

Also, just to reiterate, those are just my top 10. If the site would have let me add a 30 item poll there would have been a lot more listed there.

1968 almost anything "performance" from MaMopar are most of my favorites, 68 Charger 383-440-426 Hemi, 68 RR 383 or 426 Hemi, 68 GTX 440 or 426 Hemi, 68 Super Bee 383 or 426 Hemi, 68 R/T 440 or Hemi, 68 383 GTS/440 GSS Dart or the LO23 Hemi, 68 Barracuda 383 Fomula S or a BO29 Hemi... Even some of the C-Bodies from that year... Most are arguably some of the all time best "performance cars", not just "muscle cars" from MaMopar... food for thought, just my brain going into meltdown mode...

1969 they just made them more popular even, because of the push in 1968... 1969 Road Runner was voted the "car of the year"

70 RR in the lead? - Best looking is '68 Charger IMO, I'd go so far as to say EVER by any MFG.

If it makes you feel better it's my #2 pic, always loved the body lines of the Challenger.

68 charger. Not only the best looking mopar, but the best looking car ever. Period. End of story. And if it has a vinyl top its even sexier

Here's my list...

Best year Charger: 1968
Best year Road Runner: 1969
Best year Coronet: 1969
Best year Super Bee: 1968
Best year Cuda: 1971
Best year Dart: 1970 (in Plum Crazy)
Best year Challenger: 1971

And for the wild card....

Best year Belvedere: 1964

Given that I have a 1971 Challenger I voted for it. I really really want a black 1969 Charger. I also have an orange 1971 Charger which qualifies me for this site.

Way to go Steve! That's two of us!
GO CHALLENGER!!! At least we're kicking the Dart's @ss.

If it had a big block it was a muscle car in my book.[/QUOTE

I read long ago in X mopar mag that the Dodge Dart was the only car in Mopar lineup that received every engine ever made from the factory...the GTS more than qualifies to be inlcuded...GTS is one model that has always seemed to have eluded me..locate one that looked to be a fixer upper..guy just bought it every time....lol
