best tire combo? 275/60/15 rear.. 235/60/15 looks short for front.

I’m running 245’s on the front of my Bee and 275’s on the back. 8” rims. No rubs.

love those 245 60s on the front, and the clarance of the front end from the ground.. need to get my front up a bit more like this. not so much of a pronounced low front/high rear stance that they put in at the shop now.

had the shop crank in 2 turns on the Q1A control arms and it raised slightly (can hardly tell honestly, and the shop says i'll need to do another alignment since we changed ride height?)..
and will likely tell them to order 225 70 15's for front later today (thanks for suggestion). those tires will bring front up close to another inch, and fill in fender well a bit nicer (i think), but really like the look of the 245/60's. .

had shop put in 2 turns of front height with screws under lower control arms. minor change. may do bit more.

I like the front as is. I would bring the rear down some.

we did new hd leaf springs, and actually went with the stock shackle that came with em, replacing the longer shackle that was in there.. still sits a bit higher in rear than it did before, especially now with the 275/60's added as well.. likely gonna get the 2 inch taller 225/70's to replace the 235/60's on there now.. should have done a bit more research before pulling trigger . LOL

and can anyone confirm that it's totally needed to get alignment done again if just a 2-3 turns of ride height is added by turning the screws under the lower control arms? seemed to drive fine on way home today from shop with 2 more turns added from before, but they suggest doing alignment again, that will "toe-out" the tires ?
i'm no physicist but seems the upper and lower control arms move together, hinged on inside and out at the wheels.. but i don't know.

As the front end comes up you'll get more positive caster as a side benefit. That should help handling all around. The steering will come back to center easier with a narrower (but longer) contact patch as well.

I would want to check the alignment. You can do it yourself at home with a tape measure and get a pretty good idea on the toe in. If it's 1/8 to 1/4 in you're probably ok...

235-70/15 are too tall for the front. I've always used 225-70/15 and 215-70/15 would be ok. There's nothing like spending your hard earned money on tires that people recommend and you install and they rub. I guess you could always crank up the torsion bars 3 or 4 inches lol. I have the 225-70/15 on the front of my 69 Coronet R/T, been that way a long time. I worked with a guy that had a 69 Super Bee-I told him to use 225's but he listened to the local Mopar expert and got 235's. Guess what? They rubbed big time.

I know some guys that run 235/70's but they keep the bars cranked way up. Maybe good if you're trying to derby like the General Lee...

235/70R15 are the equivalent of G70-15 which was the standard tire size for HEMI B Bodies, they fit just fine.

I like the 295/50/15 (a lil' over 27.250"s) on the rear of my 68 RR
the 245/60/15 BFGs (don't remember exact height, it's at least an 1" shorter front)
I've have had that combo on a few of my 13 RRs & 12 Charger R/Ts
I like a bit more rubber in the back
not as tall as the 275/60/15, but wider, fits my style better
rear rims have plenty of clearance,
8" where the tires mount, actual wheels are 9.5" wide

front mounting area is 7" are 8.5" wide

had 275/15/60s on it org. didn't like it as much, IMO these car need a wider rear tire
they have huge wheel wells
I went to the wider 50's
needed to lower the front a bit to have the proper rake
sits a bit high in the front still, rough roads up here in the Sierras
I may go another 1/2" lower up front still & realign it again

they are on 'Edelbrock' Halibrand polished Alum. style kidney slot wheels
2005-ish vintage

love the look of the 295 50s, but i'd need a wider wheel than the 8" ones i have ? the 275 60's are surprisingly tall. And would you suggest going ahead with another alignment check if i cranked up the bolts under the lower control arms a few turns??

my gtx came with G60-15 polyglass tires, so would they be same HEIGHT as the 235/70?? just wider than the G70-15 polyglass?? .. loved the size of them, especially on the front. not pleased with the 235/60's we have on front now, I want to go taller and close to 9" wide on the tire, like the 225/70 ? maybe i should go 235/70 fronts.. they are 28" tall just like the rear 275/60's on the back, and they are just as wide as the 235/60's i have now (9.3" wide)

295's will fit on an 8" rim. Won't be quite as wide as on a 10", but that could be a good thing. With a 10" rim, your backspacing has to be spot on, unless you are running air shocks like we did as kids.

9” section width or tread width?

235 is the tread width

50 - 60 -70 is the aspect ratio. The sidewall height of 50 series is 50% of tread width or. 60 series is 60%, 70 is 70%

Section width is the sidewall bulge on the recommended rim width

There’s all kinds of tire dimension charts on the web so you can compare all the sizes.

9" tread width at least or close to it (fronts). loved the look of the old G60 polyglass.. good height, and width.

nice.. may have to sell the new 275/60's for a loss, and get the 295 50's. will see.
