Beware:1968 Hemi Charger on ebay

whats he asking for the car..whats the reserve

kinda odd that 95% of the cars spotless, but all the metal and bolts that didnt have paint on them are rusted..someone investing that much and going that far with the car would have had all the rusty bolts hardware and other stuff looking good..that would make u think it was in a flood and rusted anything not painted..the pics u guys posted above..and the pics of the underneath of the car also..every bolt and plain metal part is rusted

its not hard to wash a cars title and hide the salvaged or rebuilt on the title especially on older cars..ppl do it alot in my area..the title will be clean and clear, but the background check wont be,,i got screwed on one a few years back, i didnt do a carfax or background check cause the title was clean and clear and 3 yrs later i found out it was a rebuild and they washed the title by switching it from Michigan to west Virginia and then to Kentucky somehow..either they knew someone that worked at DMV or some states dont require background checks..i lost a few grand on that deal

I kind of feel bad for the guy, "if he didn't know", {but he does now & so does allot of others too}, But if he knew, it's all part of the game too, if he's "allegedly" trying to pass off any high dollar Hemi car, that was flooded/submerged, especially in salt water, on another coast basically... It seems kind of deceptive & the seller "not disclosing it", in his add, for the car, really opens stuff up to big time lawsuits... especially on a $100k+ Hemi car, & especially if he allegedly knew... It's not like it's a $150-$500 Yugo or some other foreign POS... I'm sure opinions will vary vastly too, but that's mine.... I personally commend the posters here like RC/HD & over @ DC .com for protecting the potential buyers, from deceptive sellers... He did say "he's just trying to be honest" in his add & whether this guy, selling that specific car, is allegedly one of them type or not... I'm damn glad we have people looking out for any deceptive type stuff...

If you guys noticed he said you could come and inspect the car .

Dishonest is what it is. If everyone reports it, it might get pulled

Ease up on the guy. You guys are so hard on people trying to sell cars. Its the buyers problem

A picture of the fender tag on the flooded car would be the best way and ask him to send you a picture of the vin number on the car and compare. If he would not send it then I would think something is wrong.

Ok so I emailed the guy and this is what he said:

It was there, stuck inside a garage with water half way up the sides of tires, was pulled out right away, steamed power washed and dryed and all oil's changed, it's not a salvage vehicle or salvage title, has good and clear title, call for complete details.

You really should get the facts correct, the people writing in the forums are not always the experts they pretend to be and don't have first hand actual correct infomation. Car is available for a in person inspection anytime before the end of auction. Thank You

So yes... he is hiding the fact unless you ask him about it. Dishonest as the day is long

The facts are yes it was flooded in Sandy, it has a clear title... But is still a flood car. IF is deceiving people about the flood by not mentioning it.. which you really should when you are selling a car.. then what else is wrong that he is not telling us. You cant rip a car a part to inspect it..... there is going to be damage from the flood that is not fixed.

The car needs to be disassembled and inspected IMO

Its dishonesty in the Mopar world and Dickie should be thanked for reporting it. I called it in they will investigate it. I'd expect to see the auction cancelled

And more from Randy
It's not my intention to reveal to the world of 99% lookie lou's with no money and are really just ball busters and with only 1% real buyers to discuss if the car drove though a rainey intersection or got stuck in the mud at some time in the cars service life or not, if that was the case who can really tell about any car if they haven't owned it from new. For your information and the people in the funny papers (forums) the complete history with be declared with paper work to the owner before transfer of sale & title. Now all that being said and another hour of my time are your interested in the car? or do you just have a lot of time on your hands?, like everyone else?.

Well, he sounds keen to sell going by the above reactions to a few civil questions :blob1:

forget the car, avoid that seller like the plague...

he's getting pissed because he's been exposed

Sounds as if he answered every ones questions. 100% positive feed back on over 7000 transactions, this guy is ruthless. I think its an overall good looking car :confused2:

I'd say someone should report you for calling. Do you not have a life? The guy is straight up, why are you jealous?

Its at $87,000 and is being dishonestly represented... If you have an issue with that then you are someone I would not want to do business with. If the guy was being honest about the car he would post it was flooded halfway up the wheels and how it was cleaned. He is being shady about it I don't care what kind of feedback he has.

If he took the entire car apart and put it back together ,would he have to tell anyone it was in a flood? He did what he thought he needed to do to rectify the problem. No salvage title....If you are going to spend 87000 on a car you better go see it in person and go over it with a fine tooth comb. So we are saying this car deserves to never be sold and to just end up rotting away!

That is 100% true, however, as we all know, everything always looks better in pictures than in person. The seller is asking more than top dollar for this car and one would expect that the car be near perfect. Hosed off & dried out after a salt water flood is not what one would expect after investing the time & money to fly three quarters across the country to see this car. Keep in mind that we are not talking about a $3,000.00 car; the BIN price is nearly $150.000.00. Whenever I've sold a car, I have always thought that honesty is the best policy. In spite of his feedback rating, it appeard that this seller does not operate that way.

Not at all. The car looks to be in decent shape, but the car needs to be taken apart, neutralized & fully restored to be properly brought back as others have previously stated. If this were done (with pictures documenting the vehicle before and during the restoration), I don't think that anyone would have an arguement with the vehicle or seller.

My intention is not to be condescending here regarding a few naïve or immature comments. May I suggest, if you ever go into business, you familiarize yourself with terms such as "material misrepresentation" , "duties of disclosure", "omission of known information", and the like.

I agree 100%... Or at-least disclose the issues in his add, none of this would be happening... That would be a great start, his feed back means nothing to me, way too many crooks on E-Scam, have good feedback ratings... Caveat Emptor

I bet that if it had no problems like you said about 90% of the people here couldn't afford it.
