Big block pulley sets with A/C and P/S Pictures anyone?

those are really good angles. Thanks for taking the time to post these.
So 2 belts that go around the AC Compressor, crank, and alternator
1 belt goes around the power steering pump and crank
1 belt goes around the water pump and crank

which of the 2 single belts also wraps around the idler pulley?

I am going to move ahead with the 4 belt setup. While I do like the look of a 3 belt arrangement, I want this to be reliable. I'm going to clean and paint the brackets and pulleys before installation. I'll have to "make" a spacer bracket to fit between the idler pulley bracket and the engine. I have several tubular spacers I can cut down to do it. It looks like the top needs to be longer than the bottom. As usual, I had this stuff but tossed it out because I never thought A/C would ever be something that I wanted!

Kern you’re in luck. I just received my eBay idler pulley with bracket and spacer setup (possibly NOS?) and have some measurements for you as I have yet to install.

Since I am an analog man and those are digital calipers, I am guessing that the top is just shy of 2 inches, say 1 7/8". The bottom looks between 1 5/16" or 3/8".
Center to center is easy...I can check the bolt holes in my WP housing but your measurement looks close to 1 3/4".
Thank you! This saved me some time of mocking up and measuring!

Those are analog dial calipers not digital..maybe you meant that you thought they were metric? They are not. The linear graduations are 1/10” and the dial is thousandths an inch. So that first photo is measuring 1.905”. The center to center is not exact but wanted to show that photo to give you an idea. No problem man!

What I meant is that they are not in inches and fractions like 1/8", 1/4", etc. Carpenters like me don't use that type of measurement. 2/10s of an inch? Whuuuuut ???
I can still work with that. Thanks!

Yeah, but I ended up getting rid of the power steering cause the pulley wanted to occupy the same space as my electric fan.

It’s the “Beast” from CVF. Just tell them you don’t want the power steering and you should be set.

is this the kit ? so what did you do to mount a/c on the lower right and what belt tensioner did you use was it from the kit ?

ok so if im right you used the a/c bracket and fab it to fit in the right lower of engine.

That’s the kit, and yes on the bracket.

THis has got to be one of the S-L-O-W-E-S-T projects that I have ever done to this car. Holy crap, I bought this kit in early 2018 thinking that I might have it in place for Summer that year.
:jackoff:
I cleaned and painted the pulleys and brackets, all except the power steering stuff that is still on the car. Here it is mocked up.

I somehow had a pair of Alt-Crank-A/C belts in my stash to check pulley alignment. The WP-Crank-Idler belt is new, another found in my stash. The heater hose standoff bracket was cut and redrilled allowing more angle. I had a complete set of brackets and pulleys but had to include them in the sale of a 383 that went to Washington state. I am piecing this together with factory stuff, some of it modified a bit to fit and work.

Alignment looks good.
