Blue Oval Treachery!!

A little stop off at the Oriellys to buy a fire extinguisher and fuel filter. Then to the ferry.. My brother-in-law piloted the GMC CHASE vehicle….then home

So...... does it do righteous burnouts or what?
Not yet. Needs a serious tuneup. Starts with tap of the key and idles smooth as silk, but it’s breaking up under load. It got better after fuel filter change and can if seafoam in the tank but still not right.

It looks to have an Edelbrock 1407 on it. I’m pretty sure this is a smogger 460. It’s still wearing its OE cast iron intake and exhaust manifolds. Today was a total whirlwind. I’m going to really dig in tomorrow.

Whats that I hear you say? You really want to see my old truck? You sure I heard that right? Well, OK, if you insist...

LOL, well they were all pretty well smoggers, unless you lucked out and got a late 60's "thunderjet".
If you want to patch it up on the cheap, cruise the net for a second hand aluminum intake and some decent shape "Dove-C" (D0VEC) heads. The dove heads are the thunderjet heads that had 10.8(or something close to that) compression. Adding those to even something as abysmal as a 74 engine will bump ratio up to 8.9 or into the 9's, plus almost as big of ports as a CJ head. Shorty headers and retune the carb and it will be a totally new animal. Not wild, but more then the original equip truck suspension can tame in any case.

Have fun! That truck already is a real head turner and I am sure it sounds mean even if it is pretty tame yet :)

I prefer Dodge trucks in the only color they were available in......bright canyon red!

Spent the whole day on it. Running better. It’s not winning any drag races but it’s pretty good. It has the eddy 1406 on it, not the 1407, so it’s def not overcarbed. Found a small vacuum leak which I took care of by tightening one of the carb nits which was hand tight.

Adjusted the kick down cable so it actually kicks down now. Figured out the Bluetooth on the retro sound. That thing is a big dildo. It’s about as easy to operate as the space shuttle. That’s going in the trash as soon as I figure out what to do.

Spent the day wrenching at my friends house. He’s a ford guy so he welcomed me with open arms. Gotta say one of my favorite things is this bed cover.
