Same here. I have always liked Gen II and Gen III steel bumper Vettes. My buddy just bought an orange 69 350 Vette in the spring from the original owner with less than 30,000 miles. All original including tires, belts, hoses, every piece of paper work since new. Dealer invoice, copy of check, tank sticker etc. He has known and been trying to buy this car for over 50 years and finally got it.
Kinda a bucket list car. The big block is a big plus.

I like the c3s, 68-73 with chrome bumpers still
Not bad
I've had a few c3s, 68 427 435ho tri-power & a 71 454 ls6, both 4 speeds,
both silver & black convertibles
the 71 454 ls6 425hp, one had the silver interior with black carpet console & top
former Oakland Raider lineman's car w/lil' Raiders helmets on the seat buttons
(why they were rated at 425hp when the Chevelles were rated at 450hp same exact engine)
the 68 427 435hp tri-power was silver with black interior & top
the 71' was a better car than the 68', better fit & finish, no overheating either
the 1st years of the c3s were a bit troublesome, lots of lil' bugs, they worked out by 71'

71 454 ls6 ZR2 not mine
I don't or can't find photos of mine it's be Polaroids anyway
& wrong color, but nice color, & it's a T tops, not convertible
always liked that car & styling
supposedly on 1 of 12, not sure about that (maybe in that specific model)
I think I knew of more than that just in Calif in the Sf East bay area back in the day
1977-ish, when I bought mine $4150

Factory Corvette rallye wheels. She had five years of dust and dirt on her.

I haven't owned a GM car in 30 years, but I can't get the key out of the ignition. It's not returning to the lock position. I looked for a lever to depress, and I am not seeing any. Maybe I am blind. If there was ever a car that needed a tilt steering column this is it. If I can't get the key thing sorted out,I may swap out the whole column for a tilt wheel column.

Good looking car!
As far as the key goes, dont remember when they changed it, but in my 73 you had to have the car in reverse [if a 4 speed] to remove the key. That wasnt the case in my 70 tho, so somewhere in the middle it changed. Might try that.
And yes, the tilt/tele is worth its weight in gold...

If it's an auto
I think there a cable going to the switch/trans, it's on the firewall
(I don't remember exactly where or if it was adjustable, It's been way to long)
the trans needs to be in park/pulls on that cable, to return the key to off
or it won't come out also, sometime a lil' pressure on the shifter may help too...
don't quote me
or
like @guy gadbois said in a 4 speed,
shifter needs to be in reverse,
IIRC pull up on the T handle deally on the shifter shaft,
it was a reverse lock out
I think it's the same type of deal that cable on the firewall going to the ignition switch
that the autos have...
If that makes any sense, going on memory, not so great...

the round key operates the lock box & the glovebox, doors IIRC
square key is the ignition (& IIRC, the alarm out on the fender, if it has it)...

the tumblers in the columns on the ignition switches
are notorious for messing up too
there's a few deals on-line (Corvette forums & general info)
"how to fix the old one so you can use the key" or to get the key out
involve some disassembly, putting the key in Acc position,
& remove the lockset, a lil' finess & grinding
some said just a lil' WD40 down the tumblers, not so sure about that one

Good luck...

How to get the key out of the ignition switch on a c3 Corvette ? bing search
it covered a few years, I can't say exactly what years it was either
I didn't go any father that that searching for ya'
