The main caps backwards blows my mind.. unless on gen3s that's how it is... i'm a complete hack and wouldn't even do thatYeah it’s a lot cheaper to screw it up yourself too. Cut out the middle man.

Sorry to hear about all those debacles. I remember us discussing it in Carlisle a year or so ago. Who's to blame? you can't even know where to start and at this point, not even worth it other than changing prep chefs in the kitchen and you being the main chef.Jesus H Christmas what else can happen? Guess the as the saying goes if you want it done right do it yourself. The main caps possibly being aligned backwards, Oh man.
I looked for and changed whatever I could trying to fix this.A few years ago I chased an issue on a S/S gen 3 Hemi. It would only run on the 1st 4 cylinders if the firing order. Swapped box, harness. No help. Got a scope pattern of the cam trigger/sensor. Ran a scope on it. Looked perfect and in time. Talked to a dyno guy at FCA where I worked. He said to check the cam basket for being magnetized. Sure enough, that was it. We've tigged the baskets to the gear as they have come loose. Did that magnetize it? Don't know.

Yes the phaser gets locked out. Zero advance or retardation. All timing is set by laptop.I have zero G3 experience so this may be a dumb question……..
I would assume in this application the variable cam timing isn’t utilized.
If that’s the case, is there no timing set that just eliminates all that stuff?
I feel pretty confident now seeing about 6 or 7 gen 3 blocks when I dropped mine off this morning.Good machinists with good machines and experience to match are extremely hard to find these days, especially here in New York. That's why I went to Detroit to get some honest to goodness work done including good old fashion assistance from local car lovers.
I'm sure there are good reputable shops in outer New Jersey that will DO THE RIGHT THING.
Good luck Bobtile. Y'all have interesting stories to tell between rounds of low 9's.

Unfortunately, they have since closed their doors. BEST MACHINE in Farmington.Where did you go to in Detroit?
Thanks. I know they closed up that's why I thought there might be someone else out here. I know there's lots of good shops out there but if they give your stuff to a new kid and it turns out like crap then it's the customs problem, mine yours. And I seem to be the guy a lot. Wish I could find someone just to let me use their eq. for a day. lol.Unfortunately, they have since closed their doors. BEST MACHINE in Farmington.
Also keep in mind that machinists are just getting acquainted with Gen 3 powerplants and all the tricks and whistles have yet to be explored and not ignored. These engines are now plentiful and can harness a ssss load of power. The machinists and assemblers just have to catch up with the technology and awareness of what parts are available and worth working with.
Your car is going to fly like an eagle.
