Brand Loyalty. *RANT*

A buddy of mine owns a '69 Hurst Olds. I'm constantly telling him what a piece of crap it is and he gives it right back about my Mopar. It's all BS and ribbing, but the truth is I would buy that H/O in a hot minute if he would sell it and I could afford it. It's an awesome car. I've owned Chevys, Fords, even a Buick and an Olds over the years and there are certain brand X cars that just grab me a little. I would love to find a '64 Fairlane in good shape and clone it into a Thunderbolt. I will always be a Mopar guy, but there's no reason not to appreciate other brands. JMHFO.

P.S. I appreciate all muscle and classic cars but spend my money on Mopars. If I could afford and get enough of my favorite Mopars to satisfy my passion I'd be looking for a nice Fairlane or 68-9 or 70 Trorino myself but first I'd need a major warehouse and staff to house and maintain them all.

However if a really great deal on a very nice Torino came along I'd definitely take a look and kick the tires.

Smitty, you beat me to it. My favorite cars in this order are; 70 Satellite convertible (my college car that I had ALOT of fun in) , my current 70 RR and third, my buddy's 70 Olds 442 W30. The W30 also might be the fastest car I have ever driven. The torque off the line is unreal. In my opinion, a great car is a great car. And for the record, FBBO members are probably the most tolerant, intelligent, intellectual and friendly of any forum I've been on.

What everybody else said! I'm surprised nobody has asked the question yet so I will. What forum was it, Mofarts?
In an effort to not turn this into something bigger and uglier than it is, I'd rather not put a name to that other Forum. I'm just trying to be the bigger man here. Today's a new day and I'm over it. bee1.jpgDSCF0863.jpg127_2748.jpg
Thanks to everyone for their honest input on this. This is indeed the BEST Mopar forum and I am honored to be a part of it. It was not my intention to point any fingers directly at this site, or anyone here. I was speaking about the hobby in general.
I have some pics of all the cars save on my puter at the shop and will post some this week.

Messing around is one thing, but to be seriously upset over owning another brand car is just nuts. I've grown up around cars my whole life, and people who are into various different makes tend to give each other a little playful grief where I'm from; the important thing is that these cars get restored and carry on their legacy.

I primarily grew up around Chevrolet, owned a bunch of Chevys over the years. 3 Chevelles, 4 Camaros, A Nova, C10; but now I have got myself into 3rd generation Chargers.

My dad, who is a Chevy guy through and through, had tried to bribe me into selling my Super Bee a number of times. He even offered to give me his '71 El Camino if I sold my Super Bee. I was tempted, I do like an El Camino! But I know in the long run I would have regretted selling the Bee.

Then call me nuts then. If I wanted to join a forum for multi vehicles, I would have joined hotrodders.com. To much bad blood growing up between Mopar guys and Chevy guys on the street and at the track.

good for you, be the better man

I consider myself lucky. During and after high school (impressionable years) there was such a variety of cars in what my friends and I drove. Challengers, Dusters, El Co's, Malibus, Mustangs, Camaros, pickups (all makes), Tri-Fives, Darts, Fairlanes, Vegas, a Javelin(!), to name a few. You name it and we knew somebody who had it...one guy drove a Datsun p/u he had put a 289 in. That was W-A-Y before V-8 'kits'! We loved our cars, yet appreciated each others. I still carry that mentallity today.

I am a "car guy" first and a "Mopar guy" second... My list of "wants" is topped with a few Mopars but there are way to many years, brands, styles, types, shapes, sizes etc... to be hung up on just one brand... Hell I like brunettes too and blondes and redheads... you get me!

Each of the American car manufacturers have made cars I would be proud to own, and each have made cars that I would shun having to drive. Just for fun, a couple of examples on good and bad:

1970 Road Runner :hello2:
K car :icon_oak: (Although I don't like this car, it saved Chrysler when it was introduced, so I guess we need to give it some respect...

1970 Buick GSX :hello2:
Pontiac Aztec :icon_oak:

1969 Ford Mustang :hello2:
Ford Fiesta :icon_oak:

1969 AMC AMX :hello2:
AMC Pacer :icon_oak:

this is why we live in one of the greatest nation on this planet we can choose what we like or dislike ,there many things that I dislike and there are things that I may like and others don`t agree with me, I like to like things period I believe some one coined the phrase to agree to disagree.

I'm like most everybody here as that I like multiple cars. I have only owned and driven mopar brand cars for the last 30 years, but that's not to say that if the cars like the ones I had in my younger days ever came up for sale in my price range, I would buy them. 1 was a 63 chevy and the other was a 70 mustang fastback. There are even members here that drive Toyota's, Honda's and so on. those are the cars for economy, but we ALL drive our muscle cars for the thrill of the engine under the hood and being thrown back against the seat.

I think it's great that we have so many "car" guys here, even if I don't count myself amongst them to any great degree. But in defense of Website X, I know that as a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, if I waltz my big behind into a Cleveland Browns bar wearing a Steelers jersey, no matter how honorable my intentions are, I better be prepared to take a helluva lot of crap. And if I waltz into a Philadelphia Flyers bar wearing a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey, I better be prepared to get stabbed. :) So I don't spend much time waltzing said fat behind into Browns or Flyers bars, and I don't find a lot of fault with some members of that website for not wanting to have Fords discussed on their turf.

I think it's great that we have a lot of open-minded folks when it comes to other marques on this site, but I think it's courteous to respect someone else's views when you're in their house. I'm just glad we don't have a lot of those import guys on here who try to rap through their unreadable posts. :)

I can't stand intolerant negative acting car people, in my favorite pass time... that's about all I can say, with out getting in even more trouble, again...

Nice CA Special. I can remember back in the 80's no one wanted them and they were dirt cheap. Saw some nice ones in the $2-3K range. Pretty sure those days are gone!!!

Giving some Chevy and Ford guys crap for the fun of it happens all the time, but I agree the serious negativity is unappealing. What trouble? You?? How?

I give all my car "friends" crap, all the time, it's part of being a car guy, part of the right of passage... even if they know I like allot of different brands... Hell I race GM corporate stuff Olds, Buick, Pontiac, headed BBC's & Milodon's , allot, it was the only available real door-slammer/drag-race stuff around for quite awhile, especially in the mid 80's -mid 90's & unless you were a fuel guy or rich, you were kind of forced to, to remain competitive... I always dabbled in MoPar thou, that's what my 23 T altered "usually" had, always a MoPar Street car... They all know My 1st love is MoPar, everyone knows it & I take crap for it too... But I can dish it too...LOL... on the second part of you question "I can't say", I have multiple infractions lately...
