Brand Loyalty. *RANT*

I never cared for Chebbys. I have no beef with the labor of love a guy puts in the car, I just don't care for GM designs or Ford. There was a lot more love and loyalty back in the day.

Now its just a bunch of flippers who stand around eating ice cream at car shows talking about there "vintage automobiles" that they purchased already restored.

When it comes down to racing, I think that's where you see the brand racism. GM and Mopar guys never get along at the track around here.

My family raced Mopar cars for generations. A lot of loyalty here.

Grew up with Mopars as my dad was a Mopar man too but I owned cars from the Big 2 and a few sprinkles of ferin cars too but right now, the only cars here are Mopars. The herd was reduced from 12 cars to 5 and 3 of those are daily drivers. Yeah, I'd like to know what board that was too.....

Bummer deal you got there QuickNick . . . this site seems to be very different in that respect, and that one of the reasons that I really think that this site is the greatest site on the internet. I've got a 66 Chevy 2 - and it's a 4-door . . . not the "norm" of the street rods, but it's a pretty neat looking car, and it fits my "a little different" style and mentality. I've made mention of it here in my restoration thread . . . the guys/gals here actually asked me to post pictures . . . and I did. It's next in like to be rebuilt ( Heidts front end sitting in the shop ) after I get done with all the rebuilding of my 1967 Belvedere convertible. The guys/gals here are really cool, will post back suggestions if you need a little help, great with the compliments when you do a good job, and they've got some of the most incredible thread of work ( bringing them back from the dead ) that I've ever seen ! Talk about helping to motivate a guy ! ! WOW ! ! ! I don't think that you'll get that kind of response from this site ( just don't ask if the engine compartment should be black or orange . . . )

As you said, it seems like Mopar people may be the biggest "offenders" when it comes to brand loyalty or bashing.

It's everywhere. Trust me. Being a Mopar fan and working in the Ford dealerships bring out the worst in some people. Usually from the loyalists who know nothing but the brand they work on.

I always liked mopars,I always remember my bio dad whom is in my life still driving Chrysler,Dodges and Plymouths.I got bitten by the mopar bug by him. When I was 13,my father told me that I was brought home in a mopar from the hospital after being born.It was a 1975 Chrysler Newport he still has and that is when I became a mopar fan for life.I have a new style mopar emblem tattoo on my left arm showing it.

Mopar or no car I say! Lol

And where is this other site you speak of? Sound like fun guys haha

I believe brand loyalty has it's place in certain situations, such as racing. That is a competition, so obviously the brand is what the team is really promoting. However in a hobby, such as vintage cars, there really isn't room for it. Almost every car that has been revived by some guy or girl in his or her garage or backyard or other ways, is cool. We all can appreciate the effort that goes into saving any brand of vintage car, and they all had some nice ones back in their time. My loyalty is to the hobby, I love old cars and would never accept somebody slandering another man's pride and joy, no matter what brand. That just portrays ignorance, in my humble opinion.

Join us! Lol

I eat , sleep and bleed mopar. I have not and never will own any brand X as a collector car or project, BUT , right now , my DD is a ford tortoise. I only bash on other brands when the *owners* of such cars find it necessary to bash on my mopars, then its on. I really don't give a crap what other people own and drive. I do joke around a lot about how GM and ford suck but its all in fun LOL

Wow... if I let the crap I've heard from Brand X losers for close to 40 years affect me this way I would have dropped out of the hobby decades ago! My view is if someone can't put you in prison or kill you, why give a crap what they say? But seiously, you're going on one of a relatively few Mopar sites and wanting to talk about your Mustang, and you're surprised you didn't find much love? Seriously? How many combo Mopars & Mustangs forums do you see? :) There's a reason for that.

At the end of the day, marque or model-specific forums are likely to be dominated by folks who are dedicated to those marques and models and many of them don't have a high opinion of Brand X cars or their owners, mainly because many of them have been getting treated the same way by Brand X owners for decades. :) And since there are a LOT more Ford and Chevy guys than Mopar guys... that equals up to a LOT of abuse! I consider myself as a Mopar guy. While I have owned two Ford Gran Torinos, I've been coming back to Mopar for 40 years, and while I can look at Brand X cars and manage a compliment for their owners, their cars will never give me the emotional response Mopars do.

So I guess I look at multiple-make guys as just that... multiple make guys, and treat them like a child who comes up to you with a hideous paint mess they see as art. You say "aw, that's so nice" and pat them on the head. Works for three-years olds and Brand X owners et al equally well. :)

One thing I have always felt strongly about. Knowing as much about various mfg's, makes you a better mechanic, trouble shooter etc. You get to know the strengths/weakness of each and how to apply to what you are working on.
Not to mention just knowing the history of each manufacture and what they offered.

The best engine builders don't just build one make of engine. As an example, Jon Kaase has proven that time and time again. I'm sure they are some HEMI engine builders out there that know how to make a BBC or FE motor run.

I still have in my collection, from the late '70's, a couple issues of the "Mopars and Mustangs" magazine, from back when it was hard to find Mopar only publications. No problem there.

well put it this way , the dodge brothers made the drive trains for ford back in the day even today ......... (FORD #1) . ahh chevy the rules in racing are made in their favor BACK IN THE DAY MOPAR left NASCAR so all the r&d stopped and mopar fell to the wasteside . but all old cars are cool in one way or another

All old car ownership may be a minor personality flaw at best and serious fiscal irresponsibility at worst. We are all pretty harmless, however, so we should all band together against the normal factions of society

Messing around is one thing, but to be seriously upset over owning another brand car is just nuts. I've grown up around cars my whole life, and people who are into various different makes tend to give each other a little playful grief where I'm from; the important thing is that these cars get restored and carry on their legacy.

I primarily grew up around Chevrolet, owned a bunch of Chevys over the years. 3 Chevelles, 4 Camaros, A Nova, C10; but now I have got myself into 3rd generation Chargers.

My dad, who is a Chevy guy through and through, had tried to bribe me into selling my Super Bee a number of times. He even offered to give me his '71 El Camino if I sold my Super Bee. I was tempted, I do like an El Camino! But I know in the long run I would have regretted selling the Bee.

What everybody else said! I'm surprised nobody has asked the question yet so I will. What forum was it, Mofarts?

love these type of threads.shows how lucky we all are to be members of this site.most brand specific sites will be very bias against other brands.its great to know,by the posts, this site does not favor the *** clowns.cant we all just get along and enjoy this awesome hobby we are involved in.

I have no time for fanatics who justify their existence by putting down others with a different viewpoint.

If I wanted to sing from the same songbook as everyone else, I’d go to church.

Let's keep it in check here folks. This is a welcoming site and that's been shown over and over again with members asking to see members other rides just like Kahn said above.

I understand if someone get's flamed elsewhere, get's pissed and want to come here and discuss with friends but when you phrase comments please be clear it's not against our membership, unless of course it is, and in that case take it offline with person and talk it out if possible please.

99% or higher of the regulars here are open to and appreciate all makes. This isn't a multi-make forum and never will be but we're civil here so let's not direct comments against our own FBBO family just because we've experienced it elsewhere.

Let's watch the "you" and "here" in your comments/responses because that includes this forum and I disagree FBBO is like what's being complained about.
