Plymouth Duster 225 Slant Six 4 Barrel
Had a 74 D100 and it was about as basic as they came. It had 3.55 gears but I killed them a bit with 235-75-15 tires. I got 21 with it one time driving it like it had an egg under the pedal. Screw that. Keeping up with traffic and generally driving normal, It got mid teens mostly going back and forth to work with some highway driving mixed in. It didn't have much power either and never bought another full size pickup with a 6 again.I had a 1980 1/2 ton with a 225 4sp standard with overdrive. It had duel tanks. I could go from OKC to Littlerock to Kansas city and still have 1/2 a tank left. I think it was the best engine I have ever had. Very dependable. Just not much power to pull my boat out of the water.
In a dry climate, that's not too unusual. In a damp climate, I like to at least squirt in some oil into the cylinders.....About four months ago, I friend of mine that know that I like mopars ask me if I could help him with a 75 dart with a slant six sitting for 8 years, he just want to see if the engine start after all the warnings like change the oil, new spark plugs etc, he didn't listen, he didn't change the oil or the spark plugs, even less clean the carb, not my car, so with a new distributor cap and new spark plugs wires the, the engine start with no smoke at all, I was surprised how reliable this engine was.
Yes at least, but overall is a damm good engine. In a dry climate, that's not too unusual. In a damp climate, I like to at least squirt in some oil into the cylinders.....
But, that's not a /6. These are from the West Coast Dream Machines show a while ago.
Did 'Mom' (Mother Mopar) make any bad engines?Yes at least, but overall is a damm good engine.
