I have a 440 motor that l was planning on swapping the cam and reworking the heads but l have scrapped that idea and decided to build a stroker.
I was hoping for some input from the forum on a company called 440 Source. They seem to very reasonable in price and l would like to hear some feedback on their product. Tech support, speed of shipment, accuracy of order and of course quality of parts.

Thanks!

I spoke to a few very reputable engine shops about aftermarket cranks and the Eagle, 440 Source, Scat and a few others all need to be ground before you do anything. The reason is these cranks are ground on a production basis so the journals tend to have a slight taper and possibly out of round. They just rip through the process to quickly. On the other hand if one was to go with a Chinese crank K1 Technologies was recommended hands down. I'd say the same goes with the rods and every other Chinese made component. I like to call Chinese made tools and parts a kit. You buy it. Fix it. Then use it.

I bought my balanced 512 kit from 440Source. Due to forum postings I measured everything very carefully, and found it all to be spot on. By weight matching pistons, pins and rods it all ended up to my full satisfaction, and engine is running fine.

However, I had bad luck with their sheet metal products, one product (727 oil pan) may have been damaged during shipping, the other one (valley pan) was definitely lousy design/manufacturing.

One of their alu-heads was incorrectly machined and unusable, but 440Source quickly shipped me a replacement at no cost, so overall I have a positive impression of the company and their products.

I don't mind paying extra for quality products, how about a company I can trust to buy a kit from?

No issue at all with my 440 Source 512 kit. Forged Rods/Pistons are american made and like 70RR mentioned, balancing and tolerance was spot on. As far as the Forged crank, like most, from oversea's, but still a real nice unit. Nice enough to support 696TQ. Didn't mess with any other parts of theirs beside's a 7 Quart Hemi oil pan, which is a decent piece. All other parts came from American sources....Eddy, Comp, A.R.E. ect..ect..

Good luck

My son and I have had good luck with Marsh Performance. Todd Marsh is a good guy to deal with. My son got a stroker setup with an eage crank, rods and pistons. All checked out perfect. http://www.mopartsracing.com/tmc/
If you have any machine work done to the block do it first before ordering. We had his block line bored, bored and decked. We made sure Todd knew what the measurements where so we could get the right compression on the pistons. They will sit higher after the deck is milled.
Also, I have heard good things about Ohio Crank shaft. Haven't gotten anything from them. Dwayne Porter has a very good reputation as an engine builder and sells parts. My son bought a manifold for his engine which as Indy SR heads. He wanted the Indy Dual plane manifold which is a lower profile. Dwayne did some work on the plenum and told him it wasn't worth doing all the runners (It was max wedge already) as the return on investment was low. So he is an honest guy as well.

Hope this helps.
