Bullseye!.........'71 Dodge Dart, right at home @ FBBO

I like the black one, kinda like a mini me for your runner.

Same Here...I would lean towards that as well. The paint department will be run by the wife, so we'll see what she pulls the trigger on. I believe she's leaning towards the original Hemi Orange, Plumb Crazy or Sublime, but i'm sure she'll change her mind 10 times beforehand. As far as the mini me, Roger sent one over to me a couple years ago for motivation. It sit's in front of the bird out in the garage as a reminder

Nice purchase and one I think you'll be pleased with. I still have my '72 Dart that I threw a 383 into back some 30 years ago but with the aftermarket stuff that is available now for these A bodies...well I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun.

Thanks Funship! I'm hoping so. Seems like the parts are a bit cheaper and easier to come buy in a majority of the cases. And the amount of aftermarket stuff sure has grown in the past 10-20 years. That Dart of yours must be a rocket! My first car was a '72 Dart. Lot of memories, wish I never sold it.

That's pretty cool there Prop . . . where did he find that model . . . I'll bet that helps with the motivation ! ! !

At the tender age of 14, a 1973 B5 blue, black vinyl top, 318 Dart was my first ride. Learned to drive in that thing - one rear spring starting to pop up through the trunk and all lol. Guess we have even more in common than our black B-bodies.

Sweet engine choice. I'll be keeping up with it. A 340 is what I have in the 'Net.

Nice new project Will - as always, looking forward to your updates and expertise sharing.

When this thing gets done, I wanna to see you and the wife in a showdown at the drag strip, LOL!

Have fun!

Prop, Sonny had a 1970 Plum Crazy (black hood, black top, black bee stripe, black interior.....
340 4 speed car 391 rear.....it was a BLAST!...a little "salt and pepper" ="stock" turned 13.90
with 8"/W slicks....:3gears:

I would do the same BUT all BLACK ..no purple

wow nice project!!!

Looking forward to your work Will!
Thing that caught my eye was the the 4spd. Gotta love a woman that can run a stick. (take it how you will)
My wife can shift a manual trans better than most guys I know.

Great to see you with a new Project Will! Also glad to see that your wife is into the cars as well. It sure makes a happy home life! Or at least on my end. I have a 70-71 dart parts car if you need anything just give me a shout and I can check it out for you. Matt

I couldn't tell you '67. Roger is a OTR Truck driver, so I don't know if was something he found in his many travels or something he picked up locally. Either way, pretty dang nice of the guy.

Heck Joel, sounds like the lyrics to a song. One things for certain, you never forget your first car good/bad. Small world!

Cool Beans! Great motor! I do love the sound of a big block clearing its throat, but man.....you wind up a 340, it screams so hard you'd swear she's coming through the hood. Good luck with your net coronet340. Should rocket your Dodge right along.

Haha! Now that would be fun! My luck she would whip me off the launch and I would be hearing about it for years and years. Don't think this Dart will fall in the same realm as the RR, but never the less, won't be no slouch either. It's gonna be a Showdown!!!! O.K. Corral shootout!!

Thanks Sonny. Wow...Seems like a lot of us have "Dart" roots. Sounds like one heck of a fun ride! Quick too!

I am tuned in!!! Can't wait for every step of this build!

You bet! Thanks goon!

Hey thanks Reed! She can handle her own, jamming gears....But sometimes she gives new meaning to the tranny slang term "Crash box". Good thing these 833's are built like tanks. What's funny is the look on here face, while cramming gears. Looks like Andretti coming out of the final turn at Indy...100% all business

Thanks Matt! I'll keep that in mind. I'm sure i'll be looking for parts down the road. I'm pretty lucky she's taken to these car's...When we first met, she drove a Toyota and really wanted nothing to do with cars. Now a days, drives an american car, has a wardrobe of Mopar gear and likes walking the car seen at swaps/shows.

I like that black one with the dog dish wheels. Sweet model runner too!

A little lighter than hemi orange I think (?) but some more inspiration for ya haha

I think hemi orange with black hood or accents would look pretty awesome!

Congrats! I cant believe it but I just got the wife a 72 swinger! 010.jpg

I was getting bored I guess! I really needed to something nice for my wife too she puts up with enough from me!

We used to have a 72 Swinger and I've always wanted a 68 Dart .. maybe one day. Daughters are interested :)

That's Crazy! Whata small world. I hear ya, my wife puts up with enough as well. Good luck with your '72. Sharp looking Dart.

Congrats on the A-body Propwash. Nothing like a nice light car with a peppy small block to shove it around.

Thanks gdrill! Should be a fun little zippy ride.

I'm stunned how many folks have had Dart's! Sure played a role in a lot of folks lives. '68 eh? Sounds like a great project for ya man.

So.........Pony is in the stable. Arrived yesterday. Been a damn monsoon around here this weekend. The driver and I took quite a dousing, but we got the Dodge parked. Super nice guy. Anyways, glad it's a done deal.

1.jpg

Well, definitely a Hemi Orange Car! Stands out like a monk at a sports bar.

2.jpg

I'm pretty happy with the solidness of this car. I can't ever remember seeing such solid floors

3.jpg

So....Without a doubt, roof has to go.

4.jpg

Well, the car obviously needs a name. It look like someone already gave the car a name before getting here, "Rio". Gotta admit, kinda catchy. The wifes out of town with her sister, so I can't pass it buy her till she gets back

5.jpg

Well tear down has started...fun fun fun. Catch you around fella's..

Great find Prop, looks really solid and I'd take a crappy roof over a crappy undercarriage any day. I'd put in my 2 cents on the color but you already know what I'm thinking.
