Hey Canucks

Im just south of Barrie Ontario in the village of Beeton, thats about a 45 min drive north of Toronto. We have quite a few Mopars in the area ....so no " Fords " in our crowd.
A couple of Chevys sqeeze in with us occasionally but we try to discourage them with a torrent of blatent Chevy Sarcasm !
Summits new pricing with Fed Ex is quite resonable , no surprises and its here within a few days No hassels and you still can find most parts in local speed shops cheaper than Summit ot Jegs. Dr Diff is reasonable as well he know how to ship for Canadians, I always ask for USPS Ground with the value marked at under $75 bucks....normally no issues with brokerage fees or crazy additional taxes.

Ron

Just thinking, any BC guys know of wreckers or other sources that have old mopars? Many wreckers have dissappeared from the lower mainland or only carry stuff that is relatively new.

Hey Mike...

Mike
Great Idea, I am restoring a 66 Charger and quite often looking for parts.
Reading this post I was also thinking about maybe a monthly wings and beer Moparguy night out, or maybe garage crawls. I know Ron is a big fan of beer and a big fan of Mopars... just look at his handle(Big Sugar). Though I don't know if he likes wings.
I don't know many car guys anymore, most of them grew up I guess.
I am also pissed that I missed out on the rims you sold...

Cheers
Jeff

Hey folks Vern here from Chateaugauy Qc . It has been my experiece in buying parts for my Charger that I have yet to pay duty on them . If it aint available in Canada . you dont pay duty and if it was made in the USA you dont either
I have crossed the border with things as big as a new snowblower . CBSA officer just asked to see the bill . asked if it was made in the U.S. . I said yup and went home . as I was unloading it . I saw the big Made In Canada sticker on it .
As far as shipping goes , Im lucky cause my folks live in upstate N.Y so I just order it there . bout an hour away.
I may be wrong but you can always read the free trade agreement to be more informed .

Hey Jeff! I agree completely if we could get at least one good organized gathering next summer it would be pretty awesome. I know a fair bit of people make it this way for Moparfest but that weekend is usually pretty packed as it is since the show has such high attendance. I'd definitely be in we could always do it co-ordinated with a local cruise night in South Western Ontario.. There's definitely plenty of those!

I don't think you're the only one who's pissed they missed out on those rims! I wish I had that kind of following for the other stuff I've tried to sell. P.S. I have some misc. parts now plus my complete engine as I'm doing a motor and some driveline swap this winter so shoot me a pm if I might have something you need.

Hey Vern,

Thanks for that info if what you say is right about a way to avoid duty that could save me some big $$$ on the crate motor I have being shipped my way!

It ain't duty we're paying but provincial sales tax. Here in BC it's 12% total pst and hst. Different rates in different provinces, eg Alberta has no sales tax. Duty is a different animal and I've never had to pay any either.

The Brokerage fees are a killer too on the larger items :(

No it's a small place called performance cellar.

I get parts from there too.

I'm in Hamilton, I need to order a bunch of stuff for the belvie before race season starts. If I can't get it from performance cellar I was thinking of ordering from summit to one of those temporary p.o. box places in Buffalo. So if anyone needs stuff pm me and I'm sure we can sort something out. I'd be interested in wings and beer as well. Just don't give me a dirty look when I pull up in my civic to join a mopar guy meet haha.

P.S. Sorry about not getting back to you about the tach Mike, life got real busy for a bit.

No worries brother as soon as I got the tach on Kijiji it sold immediately. What's the plan for the Belvie still doing a turbo for the 6?

Yeah, I bought some stuff hoping to run motor into the 13's and with a bottle into the 12's, but the more I understand and learn about boost the more I'm pushing for it. I'm trying to sell off some parts from the civic and belvie to finish up buying parts for it.

I already have stock bottom end, ported and polished head with big valves, stock cam. Clifford 4barrel manifold and a holley 650 dp blowthru. I have to cut the exhaust manifold and find someone in the area that can weld a turbo flange to it. After that it's just buying the rest of the setup. Hopefully it'll be ready for the spring so I can surprise everyone at the mopar events.

Sorry Baller, wish I did know of some. There was a post on here a few months back about a guy near Oliver B.C. that had acres of old cars on it including many Mopars, but apparently he wasn't interested in selling anything.

I know of an old crazy guy out in the bush near Enderby who has at least 12 old Mopars sitting around his yard. My sister's ex bought a '71 Gremlin from him a few years back after much persuasion, but he usually isn't interested in selling. I think I'll drop by next spring and see if I can entice him to sell some parts or possibly a project. There are a few local guys down here that have stuff and advertise, but when you talk to them it's "...I have that but I may use it on my next project". I really don't think they are too interested in selling. Never thought it would be so hard to find used side marker lenses that people aren't asking almost retail money for.

Pack Rats!

No kidding. One guy had some '450' steel wheels. He told me they were for sale and when I said I'd pay the price he said ' well, I'd kinda like to hold on to them'. He was asking 2006 prices too. I have since come to my senses and realised that would have been a big waste of money.

Thanks Bud , but it aint finished , Let me know how it goes .

Thanks Ron , good to know . Money to go into my Charger is hard to come by , as it is not on the high priority list in my household haha
Thanks again Vern

I'm going to break things up a bit. I'm in Vancouver/Maple Ridge. Everyone have a Merry Christmas, spend time with family and friends, and take it easy on the rum and eggnogs.
