Cats

Yeah, and I like dogs. We currently have our rescue dog Cora, but have had others. And not all small dogs are nine iron or puntable dogs. I just can’t wrap my head around some of the super inbred ones that are dumb as a freaking post, incapable of doing anything other then running in circles or foaming at the mouth while yipping and barking and snarling. Not every dog is or needs to be a Rhodes Scholar, but geez, some of those dogs are good for nothing while annoying everyone else around them other then their owner.
I agree, some owners seem to think their ankle bitters are cute. I think it’s ALL on the owners to train their dogs.
Our first family dog was a standard bred Daschound golden rod. MIL came to visit and potty trained Schultz and our son in one week. Shultz was with our son all the time. If one of us went outside and called his name, Schultz would bark once, and we would know where they were. She was a very loyal dog. When we went for walks in the city or anywhere we hardly ever needed a leash. She liked to walk about 10. Feet in front of us. When she got to the corner, we would say stop Schultz and she would sit and wait. Fond memories.

Pertaining to other things! Dad used to say.
You could tell what kind of a provider a farmer/rancher was by the size of his wood pile.
Their Personality was , by the way they treated their animals.

Breakfast time for the blind hood cat Mr Po. I don't normally feed on top of my car but there was a lot of activity at the OWP soup kitchen this morning and he gets timid and backs away in a crowd.

We have a long dog thread but I haven’t seen one for cats. I’m in a weird position where I would happily live without any animals but I’ll help or feed whichever ones come my way. So I may look like a cat/dog/insert_species_here guy but I’m more of a ‘oh you poor mofo’ guy.

Anyway besides the ones in my house that I consider my official cats (loooong story there) I feed a bunch in the neighborhood too and if something is bad enough provide medical intervention or take them indoors. The neat crossover with a B body is besides my post in the Dogs thread where I was at the right place right time because I was doing something Coronet specific, is that neighbor of mine who I’ve hardly ever spoken too for 20+ yrs, just waved at most, started talking to me A LOT about the Coronet. He then asked if I could check something in his car so I go down there, see cat food in his driveway and a bunch of strays I’ve never seen, so I thought I was the only one on this street but I’m not. Since he’s kind to animals I tried to help him with his issue the best I could.

This is a worthless start to a thread without a pic, and I could offer a million, but I’ll go with this guy who recently started showing up for food. I call him Mr Po after Master Po from Kung Fu. If you know you know. He’s partially blind and right away reminded me of the character. Other than a small scratch that I’m monitoring and being blind he seems healthy and by his weight has other food options too. But if he shows up he gets a can.

I have 3 cats, 2 male and 1 female. I had them now for about 3 to 4 years. I’m looking for some input here because I just got 2 little kittens on Saturday night from a friend. 1 male, and 1 female. They are currently 8 to 9 weeks old, and they have not been to the vet yet. They are running the downstairs. Our old cats have been terrified since we got the kittens and have been hiding upstairs in my moms’ and stepdads’ room, and we’ve had to carry them downstairs to eat and use the facilities. My stepdad closed the door on them today and he says “they’re going to go downstairs I’m sick of it, I’m not carrying them downstairs their going to have to meet them”, basically forcing them out of the room and downstairs when they don’t want to. I read that this is the wrong thing to do because it takes time, and my stepdad is VERY impatient which explains why he was never a father. One of the cats already hissed at one of the kittens 3 times now. Anyone have any input? A friend tells me that they are supposed to be separated in another room and to have the old cats smell the kittens scent on something like an old rag or t-shirt. I would REALLY HATE to get rid of the kittens if they can’t all get along, I love them too much as unmanly as that may sound.

Its not ideal but its not the end of the world either, even if its rushed they usually figure it out eventually. Unless the adults cats are super jerks they won't hurt the kittens, they in my experience, seem to know. I would get them checked for anything contagious ASAP tho. A little hissing and the occasional smack is also normal, the kitten may just take a submissive posture to speed things along. Just hang out with the group of cats and play with them to help grease the wheels.

I have no experience with those, maybe someone else can chime in. Be cool if they help.
Its a long story but we got our adult cats first before our other now 3 year old young cat, and when we got our 3 year old when the adults were already here… we used those dispensers. My opinion is that it did not totally help any at first, although my mom and stepdad think otherwise. They seem to do better now though.

Here’s a picture of our 2 adult cats before we got our first now 3 year old kitten….
