change dash in 70 RR to ralley

what is involved in changing the standard dash guages to ralley in 70 b body as both were available . i think i changed one many years ago because of dash elc fire. i belive i lenghtened the wire to suit . no after market then.

Dash frame, cluster assy, wiring harness are all proprietary to rallye. I just converted a 70 satellite to rally. Wasn't too bad.

Yeah. The standard sweep dash frame is different than a rallye dash frame. 70 is different than 68/69 as well.

heck i was sure it was 70 i changed long ago . o well so I will need a dash frame , did yours look like you could have converted it , just a thought

I didn't try to convert it since it would cause me issues later with mounting the trim and such. If you can't find one I have a complete 70 dash I've been collecting parts for to sell at Carlisle. It's complete from dash pad, to ash tray, to glovebox, wiring, cluster, trim, no radio (Not hacked) and even has heater controls.

Ok thanks for the info my car dash was stripped before I got it most of the parts were stolen or lost at body shop , where i bought it . wont try to convert .

Is your car a Road Runner? If I remember correctly in 70 all Road Runners came with the rally dash. If that is the case you just need to buy the cluster and the rest of the bits to put it together.
You can google images of both dash frames to see which one you have. The differences are easy to see if they are side by side.

you are right I phoned a old friend he had seen inside the car when I brought it home He said it was for sure a ralley frame . buried under snow and -25 outside . I tarped it and left it . last fall . the 72 rr is in the garage

I am converting a 70 satellite to a rally dash. I have a really Dash Frame but I don’t know if it’s a 6869 or 70. How do I tell the difference and will the 6869 work in the 70s?

hi as it turned out my dash frame was a rally ,got car in winter was all apart so just tarped it up . but for you it might be a lot easier to locate a rally frame , the complete unit comes out very easy. .
