Charger “metal torsion sound” very slow speed turns

So...it looks like its the rear diff. In a tight turn you can see the inside tire kind of “skipping” “shuddering” as it slowly turns. My older gentleman mopar tech says he can remember putting in that sure grip in the 90’s. Probably worn out. We’re gonna open it up and most likely put in new clutch plates. Looking forward to getting in there actually to see how everything looks. Called a few places today here in Canada to find the clutches...no luck. (P4529484). Keep looking tomorrow.
Didn't say ( I missed it), which sure-grip you have clutch or cone type. Do you know for sure :D which type you have?

Cannot find this anywhere at a MOPAR dealer. Anyone have any idea where to find the clutches?

Contact Cass at Dr Differential. He can get you what you need. He is in Billings Montana.

OK. Got one now! Awesome. Thanks for all the help. Will report back in when it's all in!

Let us know if you find pieces of broken spider gear in there when you open it up. I had it happen twice, finally the shop comped me a true-trac because after some research they were finding issues with the recent run of clutch diffs. You may find galling on your clutches, they can be smoothed and re-used, or you can set them up(or your new set) for less tension but none of that solved my problem.

So...ordered new clutches. Diff opened up and all gears etc cleaned out. Everything looked brand new once cleaned. (I think!). Installed them. Lots of oil and friction modifier on assembly. Back on the car. The tires were "skipping" on turns for the few bunch of miles but then everything all smoothed out. The dates on the sure grip and gear were 1 day apart and about 45 days before the scheduled production date of the car. Pretty neat! Some pics.......

Nice! Thanks for the follow up. So many threads get left hanging....anyway glad it's working! Something that helps on a new setup is to find a safe spot to do some slow tight figure 8's, in forward and reverse. Sounds like you're good by now!

yes. Was on the highway but would not stop the tire chirp when doing turns. Went onto a parking lot and went around and around...that is when it stopped!
