Charger Road Trip

My dad and I have been talking about doing a trip like that since I was a teenager, he lives right off of old 66 in SW Missouri...definitely serves as inspiration to get one of our rides done!
Thanks for posting these!

It's amazing how well old cars like that will hold up. I don't even think my "modern" 99 Monte Carlo could make 6260 miles in 18 days without something blowing up or knocking loose.

You know, I keep looking at all of those amazing pics and I keep forgetting to thank you.
Thanks man, that looked like an amazing trip. I'm really glad you decided to share it with us.

That was amazing ,thanks for sharing
Paul

Nice trip.

When I first saw the tear drop I thought you were camping along the way, then I see the back opened and was surprised not to see the chuckbox kitchen. Why did you need the trailer? What di you have in it? With the cargo space of a 67 Charger I would have thought you would have all the space you needed for a motel trip.

I have seen nearly all of the country you did on that trip and it brought back a lot of memories.

If you have never been you missed one of the most beautiful places in the USA just 25 miles south of Flagstaff where I live in Sedona, AZ. I live 4 miles morth of Sedona in Oak Creek Canyon a beautiful mountain pass that has a crystal clear spring fed creek at the bottom of the canyon heading into Sedona.

Here is a link to some pctures of Sedona.

The first picture was taken from the bridge crossing 500 feet from my house which sits on this creek.

Did you try the frozen custerd in Tucumari NewMexico? Or the Green, and Red Chile in albuquerque? Did you cruise Oatman Road? (I'm sure you had to take it as slow as we did!). Me and a friend traveled it from Bloomington to Springfield Ill... Then the next summer Me and two other friends traveled the the distance from Tulsa Oklahoma to Santa Monica Cali, in my '66 Chrysler Newport. We made a rule to not eat at any chain resturuants, and to stay in old motels on the route....definately made the trip more interesting! And physically drove on as much of the physical road as we could no matter how crappy it was. I'll have to share some pics with you. I hope you enjoyed it. Lots of old tin along the way waiting to be restored...lots of ghost towns too.

Your charger is beatiful sir. I also noticed you have a photo of the Hackberry General store as well...did you by any chance see the surprise waiting in the men's bathroom? haha... The farthest journey my Charger has completely was the Hot Rod Power tour this year. It was a good 3,400 miles total for me. Nothing but a failed oil pressure gauge (sending unit took a dump...thank god it wasn't actually bad oil pressure).

Wow, what a great road trip! Not many people are able to put together the time off work, budget, and a roadworthy car to pull that one off. Thanks for sharing your trip pics with us. We just saw the Grand Canyon for the first time this spring and were blown away. Did some of RT 66 while we were out that way and it sure is a more pleasant way to see the area then the interstate.Just curious, what kind of fuel mileage were you able to get out of the Charger?
