Christmas Gift Exchange for a Lincoln Mark IV

Some of you may remember in a recent post I purchased myself a 1973 Gran Torino as a Christmas gift to myself. Well the lady backed out of the deal after I initially put the deposit down because she wanted more money for the car. I’ve been working on the replacement gift but didn’t want to prematurely share in case the deal fell through again. The car is paid for and the transport company is picking up in Denver tomorrow, so I think it is safe to share. I gave a sneak peak in the other muscle cars you like thread. I’m not sure I want to be referencing myself to Frank Cannon though.

I haven’t decided yet. I am very tempted to put a top end package on it, that alone would take it to 500HP and 500Tq. But then the other part of me says leave it alone. Im going to run a Marti report on it when it gets here to see how unique it is. I’m waiting until it the car is physically in my possession before I spend any money on, so i will have to wait a few days to run the report to find out how unique the build is. I know the milage of 63k is original. I may leave it alone. We will see how it drives. Maybe at a minimum, do a mild cam, and a timing gear set. The factory gear set is retarded 8 degrees. Bring back to TDC where it belongs. And maybe true dual exhaust on stock manifolds. That should at least wake it up without being noticeable.

It should be for the 1973 sticker price of around $10k. That’s $72k today. And i paid less for it than the Torino. I will post the Marti report when I get it. It will have the window sticker.

It is 18 feet 6 inches long. I was having another garage built and had to add another 5 feet when I bought this, so I consider that a slip fee. The harbor master, well she told me I could pilot it myself. She even went so far as to suggest I could sleep in it.

Green was a very popular color back in the day. Also, it seems like anytime some finds an old car...it is green! This is more true of C Bodies, but B Bodies aren't far behind.

There has been a running joke on FCBO for awhile. Someone will post an ad for a car they found... invariably it will be green. The common response to the ad will be along the lines of "oh, look a green one. I would have never guessed". Similar comments have been posted on FBBO when a green car pops up.

Cheap entertainment. I'm easily amused. Lol

Another term that sometimes pops up on the these forums is "triple pickle", but yours doesn't appear to be one unless the vinyl top is a light shade of green.
