Hi folks, I have an unusual problem. I have a 69 383 roadrunner with a four speed. Totally restored. Took it out for a ride today and every time it pushed in the clutch, I got a chattering noise. Came back home and found that the flywheel was rubbing on the clutch inspection cover. Nothing seems loose or out of place. Any thoughts?

Are you saying the flywheel rubbing the front inside of the clutch housing pan or dust seal?
Is the pan or seal bent or deformed from something hitting it? Bend it back or straighten or replace.
Clutch cover bolts too long?
Are the bell to block bolts tight?
Worse case, crank thrust bearing worn allowing too much fore and aft movement of the assembly?

Thanks for your responses. Turns out I lost two bell housing bolts, causing the inspection cover to rub on the flywheel. All fixed. Thanks again

See what driving the car brings to light? Good to hear the fix. How bout some pictures of your fine ride.
