No, a leaking valve cover gasket will not cause a clicking noise.

Thank you! I didn’t think so, but wasn’t sure. I’m positive that’s the culprit for my oil leak though.

It’s the source of a lot of “rear main seal” leaks as well.

Not sure what you describe as "clicking", but a "ticking" noise will occur if a plug wire is shorting out on a metal object, such as the valve cover. Observe in complete darkness.
