Put in a new cam and cam bearings in my 67 318 and since it was late fall and the car was already apart I decided to put an electronic ignition in it, a Proform. Used old coil and suddenly it started leaking oil. I'm not sure if I maybe hooked something up wrong or if I should have changed to one with more voltage. I got one today from Advance Auto a 42000v. Should I have replaced the original coil in the first place?

It shouldn't leak any oil. The oil is used to cool the coil.... You say you update the ignition... If the old coil was rated for a points system that’s a NG... You need a coil for an electronic ignition...Also incorrect voltage caused the coil failure. make sure your not overcharging...Leaving the key on too long is also reason for coil failure...

Thanks, Pops, for your help. Dave
