Convert mechanical to electronic voltage regulator

I recently changed the points in distributor to electronic using the pertronix kit. Everything works good but have noticed my voltmeter gauge jumps around and lights flicker slightly. I am still using the mechanical voltage regulator and think it’s time to covert to the electronic as well. Does anybody have a diagram or picture on the routing for the wiring to get this done? Thanks

U can get an upgraded regular that is solid state. I don’t have a number but google should find it for u. Kim

You also have to either change the alternator to a 1970 or newer one or,, change the brush holder on the alternator that goes right to ground.

Have a couple of these used, removed because I bought the ones in post #2. Only I think they shorten battery life, others say untrue. If your interested I'll send picture of the voltage regulator you'll get. $25 shipped. PN 3690732

Thanks for the diagram. I'm doing the same thing myself down the road. Do you think you could please show or explain how the brush holder is changed.

I just ordered a new brush set from NAPA for a 70 or newer alternator. That comes with the piece you need to isolate the brush from the case.

Once again I tip my hat to the members of this forum. This afternoon I went by Autozone and picked up a solid state voltage regulator to replace the mechanical one. The engine started right away just like my 2014 Silverado and the voltmeter gauge is constant at 14 volts. It no longer jumps around like crazy. The car actually seems to run better as well, not sure if this because of the new voltage regulator or just in my head. If anyone needs this its part# VR706, and even looks just like the original mechanical regulator. Thanks again.
