Coolant for Old Mopars

i've used the low tox stuff before. no issue with it but IIRC freezing and boiling points are different when compared to ethylene glycol at the same concentrations. i don't think an ethylene glycol tester works correctly with it either.

You are correct. Ethylene glycol & propylene glycol (in Low Tox stuff) have slightly different densities (floating ball tester off) & slightly different refactive indexes (refractometer off). The floating ball testers & the old Prestone tester with the red pointer (basically the same thing) should work on ethylene glycol coolants, but read wrong for propylene glycol coolants.

IMHO if ur changing every 2 yrs what diff does the water content make? 45+ yrs of "water + antifreeze has always worked for me. "Most" of the engines are old-school.

Numerous applications of "Bars-leak"??? OR never changed the coolant?

Water content is always 50%. There is just no sense in paying for 50% water in the premixed stuff.

I bought a Beecool radiator for my car. They wanted me to buy their own premixed stuff from a dealer 100 miles away. I looked into it and their $30 gal premixed stuff was only good to -25. In my slice of heaven that ain't good enough.

The old mean green kitty killer stuff, (PEAK or Prestone) mixed 50/50 will suffice. I've old tractors that have large radiators with the same cocktail in them. 5+ years old and still good, (with the help of additive)

Yep.... you need distilled water or at least de-ionized water. The dissolved minerals in tap/well water is "radiator sludge/scale in the making"
Hmmm, good to know. I must be lucky or maybe my spring water is a bit cleaner?

Bob at Glen-Rays said good old "Prestone, just like factory".
