Looking for help on the transmission linkage on 440 six pack. Currently this linkage hits the bottom of the air cleaner base and the kickdow. seems to always be engaged. The transmission will not go into 3rd gear until 55+ mph, and if you barely touch the throttle pedal it will kick down to 2nd gear. The linkage is three pieces.

You probably have the wrong middle link... The bottom link is the same as 383-2, 383-4 & 440-4.. The top link the 383-4 $ 440-4 is wrong but close enough to work but the middle link is unique Short one is 440-4, long one is 440-6...

And looks like there’s quite a few incorrect parts there, plus a return spring is missing. See the yellow spring in the pic (though it should be white). Where that cotter pin is in the back should be where the return spring attaches (see top spring in springs pictures). Attached is a pic of the mounting bracket for the rear pivot. And both front and rear springs connect to the same bracket coming off the center carb. Missing that back return spring could be part of the problem.

A&A Transmission has the three piece kickdown rods and other 6 pack stuff.

Pic three doesn’t have the back of the slot butted flush if I’m seeing that rite. That needs adjusting

I was in a hurry earlier, didn't even notice the throttle cable bracket... And springs... Details matter..

Your good Wild. Just things I see and know about our automatic and related components

Once the correct rear bracket and rear bellcrank are installed, a 3/16 drill bit is used to lock everything in place and proper adjustments made to kickdown linkage.
