i wanted to throw this past you guys and get some feedback, weather it be negative or positive, both are accepted. heres my idea :

just like the 66 Belvy II when i bought it, it was TOO grey....im seeing this with the Javelin also but its TOOOOO orange. i like the "C" stripes that came on the Javvys, but i want to do something different so i came up with this idea.

buy some Duster 340 stripes ( that have 340 on the 1/4's).. and turn "340" into "304" and apply the stripes in addition to the "C" stripes. heres a blank canvas so you can picture it. imagine the "C" stripes on the front going to the door handles...and the 304 stripes coming from the back to the door handles ( ill have to modify the duster stripes so they dont clash ) 001.jpgDusters20.jpg1972_AMC_Javelin_red.jpg

I think if you modify it as said it would look pretty good if im picturing it right, That first picture makes your new car look like new! Whatever you cleaned and waxed it with sure did a great job!

thanx Ron. but all i did was wash it...it still needs machine buffed.....and those tires on it now have the raised whites on the inside...gotta take 'em and have them flipped around!

yes i agree. the raised whites look good on lighter brighter colours than on darker colours. X2 cents
as for stripeing variants i wont get in. its an individual choice thing. i have had some i liked and others i didn't like. never started from scratch before.

Sweet. I like it the way it is. Take off the mud flaps.

I think you're right, it would look better with something, needs to break it up a little bit. This Javelin is for sale a few miles from me and I saw it about six weeks ago. I like the rub strip on the back and the black on the hood and roof. I don't know if this was a factory stripe or not. Just something else to look at.

i like that butterscotch javvy...not crazy about the body rub strip tho. theres painted on stripes on the hood and deck lid ( kinda like whats on a chevelle). the car also came with flat black rear window louvers, i havent installed those back on yet until i machine buff it . 002.jpg010.jpg

I agree the striping is a personnel thing, but if were mine I like the black stripe on the front like in your last picture - minus the mud flaps of course. Could you do a photoshop to see what your idea looks like before you buy?

The car pictured here is an AMX which has the t strip hood. Also they had a fiberglass hood as well. I believe the AMX had a 360 engine standard. The grill had a mesh look and the parking lights were part of the grill and not below in the facia like the javelin.

i dont have photoshop...the best i can do it the paint program......and if any of you seen my "pink space shuttle" thread, youll know it wont turn out too good ! lmao

Dawg, I think I like the C stripe best. You could put that on first, and then go from there. Dig the color of the car.

I would leave it plain if it were me but of them I like the camaro rs stripe or chevelle.. what ever you call it...LOL

too bad theyre painted on coz if they were vinyl decals, ida peeled 'em off by now...hahahahahahahhaha

My dos centavos was I liked the 304 stripe idea until you said the car has hood and rear deck stripes. I think adding more stripes to the sides would make you car look like a mutated tiger as two different styles of side stripes, and different again set of top stripes, would make the car look like a Frankenstein mobile.

i have always loved this style javelin ever since i was a kid. the post 70's javelin amx with the giant ducktail spoiler with their huge coke bottle body lines were the baddest of them all. the power bulge hood, AMC rallyes, front spoiler and flush amx grill all wrapped together was a complete package regardless of what engine it came with. amc lacked in the graphics department with these cars. i think part of the reason we didnt see many side stripes was because of the top side body lines. other than the side moulding, ive only seen a couple of other factory side stripes. if i had yours, the first thing i would be doing is hunting down one of those bad-*** ducktail spoilers and a bulge hood. i would build an AMX clone out of it, buts thats just me. i can see the duster engine call-outs working very nicely. i would be blacking out the grill and the tail panel. i think you may be able to pull off the duster side stripe if you ran it into the front C stripe and gave it more curves. a couple years ago i passed up the chance to trade my yellow duster for a yellow 72 amx 401 4 speed car with no motor, and will tell you im still kicking myself in the *** for it. heres a few pics that i could not help but post, i hope you dont mind. i personally dont like the chevy stripes, but unless you repaint the car, you are pretty much stuck with them LOL
