crazy idea for the Javelin

Sonny says; stick with your first idea, sounds great. 304under stripes

I Like Bruzilla's Idea..I might even look at a gloss stripes, as opposed to a muted with the color of the body... ??

Already been done dog.

Flat black the hood, duster strip down the side to a 304 all they way:eek:ccasion14:

My dos centavos was I liked the 304 stripe idea until you said the car has hood and rear deck stripes. I think adding more stripes to the sides would make you car look like a mutated tiger as two different styles of side stripes, and different again set of top stripes, would make the car look like a Frankenstein mobile.

X2. With the hood and deck stripes, the sides would be too much. Hey, you asked.

Jav looks amazing. I'm way jealous, have always loved 'em, and you see so few around.

Just havin' fun, all I could find was a yellow car.

yes i did ask and i thank all of you guys for your input. it helps to have more than one opinion but i did some measuring today. im afraid the billboard idea isnt gonna work. i straight edged the rear quarters where its gonna go, and there is a 4 inch variance on each of the sides of the "high side".....if you can follow that. its too much of a "sphere" to apply it on such a large area without a major problem. its kinda like taking a flat sheet of paper and wrapping it around a basketball and doing it so there are no overlaps...thats the best way i can describe it. i was told that the vinyl wont give that much. i loved the idea but no point in doing it if its next to impossible. ....so back to "plan B ".

i put in a new neutral safety /back up light switch today trying to get at least the reverse lights to work. nuthin doin....i think i need the 3 pin harness connector coz i "attempted" to fix the one that was on there and im pretty sure it just gave out. its the same as a MOPAR one so i can easily get one! took the wheels to the tire store today and had them put the raised whites on the outside...MAN WHAT A DIFFERENCE. ill get pix . i have it up on 4 jack stands now. gonna tackle the tempermental gas gauge tomorrow and no sense of putting it on the wheels just to have to do it again tomorrow to get to the sending unit .

im needing a buffer to buff the paint. i had a nice Rockwell 7 " one, but it died a few years back...so if any of you guys are selling an electric one for a "reasonable price', id rather buy from you guys than EBAGG.

heres a few pix of the raised whites on the Javelin. pictures as promised. i did a final degreasing on the engine bay today and took her on the interstate for a good blowout. ran great but in bad need of a front end alignment. didnt pull or nothing like that but you can see the wheels need straightened on a head on look. my "backyard alignment" worked after i rebuilt the front end. i think she needs a starter coz the bendix kicks out after a few revolutions. other than that...NO ISSUES. im really starting to love that car and my niece said IT IS SEXXXXXXXXXXXXXY !!!:pink banana: i think im going to opt out of the cam and 4 barrel idea for the simple fact....it just dont need it. just gonna get a brandy new 2 barrel with an electric choke this time and thatll do. squeezed grease into the u-joints....filled up the rear end coz it was damn near empty, and scraped about 5 pounds of California sand and dirt off of the entire rear axle and degreased that too . time to start "deluxxxin' up " the engine bay...heres pix of the raised whites.....enjoy!raised whites javelin 002.jpgraised whites javelin 001.jpg

Cool Rambler dude

Dawg; the Javy looks great, you could go with a hotter igntion, free flowing exhaust, higher ratio rockers & some updates or a new performance 2bbl & K&N or gauze type air filter too, to bump up the performance a little, easy peasy...LOL... instead of the camshaft & 4bbl change... There's more than 1 way to skin a cat, so to speak, think outside the box...

LMFAO doesn't need it, no such thing....LOL... any of our cars, even a AMC/Rambler can always use "more power"... quoting Tim Taylor the tool guy

thanx for the comps Budnicks. im gonna have to look into the engine numbers on this motor coz....i think its a 360 2bbl...it runs too good for a 304. the ignition is still points,,but i put hotter plugs in it new wires cap...yadda yadda. perhaps someone stuck a 360 in here, but im gonna look into it.

my plans for the exhaust is this.....firstly....NO HEADERS coz ya'll know how i feel about them, but i want to put glass paxx on it with dump pipes...( exhaust exits right in front of the rear tire with the pipes cut on a slant )....if itll work. i havent looked into it that far yet. i think that will look good and not like my other cars with the exhaust all the way back,

so far incase you guys gave a damn ...i have a total of about 9600.00 in this car. the upholstery will be about 1000.00 and the exhaust (if i choose to do it myself ) will be about 200.00. im still way ahead of the game if i would have bought one finished, coz around here, the few i looked at were going for around 17,500.00 and in my honest opinion, arent NEARLY as nice as this one, they just had bigger engines..( if this indeed is only a 304 ). once the seats are all done and the exhaust, itll be like a brand new car.

the 304ci isn't all that bad, I remember my Pops buying a new 73 CJ5 Heep with a AMC 304ci 4 speed, that thing would haul ***, for what it was, pretty light, but I was young & dumb, but I do remember that....

It really looks great. I think white letters almost always make a car look better than plain black. I never really paid much attention to AMC's, but since I've been seeing your Javy, I gotta say I've been given them a second look.

Oh, come on...it's only paper with a bunch of green ink on it. You can't take it with you. I figure money don't look as good sittin in a garage as a car does. And, I think you have made a good deal.

X3 on too much stripage will look too busy.

My vote is for C stripe only with the 304 inside the C on the front quarters,
The duck tail in back for sure,
And an all flat black hood.

The raised whites look great!

I have a similar desire to add something to the side of my B5 blue 68 sport satellite, but can't come up with anything that will look good other than vendor stickers, which I don't want to do.

did some research on the engine. it is indeed a 304. the nice thing about AMC engines is the cubic inch displacement is cast right into the block in BIG numbers 290-304-360- 390-401...etc etc. right under the motor mounts . considering the condition i got this car in, i have every reason to believe it is all totally original. AMC has a tag on the passenger valve cover also. those numbers read the engine was built in January of 1972. i guess because this car weighs next to NOTHING, the 304 2 bbl carries it along nicely. got rid of all the rusty wire looms and replaced them with nice white plastic ones. the engine bay was TOTALLY SPRAY PAINTED BLACK, you can imagine how terrible that looked and im now in the process of "deluxxxin it up". routed some stray wires and loomed some that needed a home. taped some up. sometime this week ill buff out the paint and get rid of some scratches on the roof coz my buddy was holding out on me with his buffer. after its all buffed ill apply the stripes before a good CARNUBA WAXXING. still some small stuff to get done after all that but shell be ready for the car shows come spring !

i like this one
