So I was searching for a old school cam and stumbled upon this cam, snapped it up . I like the new old shool stuff, lol! I am seriously thinking about using though in my 383 build.
From the info I can find, it seems it was a good little cam for those who used it, I picked up matching springs as well. Any reason why not? 383 .040 over, 915 small exhaust heads, 10:1 compression, 323 gears.

224 @ 050, single pattern, 110 LSA. Should work well. Find some old lifters & have them re-faced to ensure you do not wipe out the cam.
 
I ran that cam in a 68 Coronet back in the 70's.... It's a good grind...
 
Howard's still has that lobe profile. It's an old crane pattern repackaged for crower. Howard's has several of those older crane lobes. I used a crower 201hj in my 383 back in the day and it was a crane lobe ([email protected], .480 lift); worked great in a 383. I put the 280/.460 in a 350 Chevy once and it worked out fine.

Contact "Big bill" here on the site. He sells old school Johnson lifters from time to time. Check any lifter you get to make sure it has a crown on the lobe end.
 
That was my first cam…….which went in my first build in 1981.
It was like $66 and change.
It was a good cam.
After a few things got upgraded on my car I ended up going like 12.70’s or 80’s with it in my 68 Satellite with a mild 440.

More upgrades got implemented in the car, and several cams were part of that……and the 280H ended up in a well used and previously rusted seized 400……that amazingly enough also ended up running 12.70’s in the Satellite.
 
I was able to run lots of 12.01's in a 4200lb '67 Coronet with this cam in a stroked 383 (448" w/3.90 stroke) with crazy old JC Penny 7" Cheater slicks. Mine was ground by Chet Herbert cams though and had a 108 center. It had awesome street manners and was consistent as hell in the 1/4. Probably my favorite cam I ever ran.

I would be happy to get under 14 seconds, lol! Glad to hear the positive comments, I kinda bought this on a whim. The fella I bought it off said it is still in the original packaging and in perfect condition, seems like it was a good purchase on a good old school piece...
 
My original combo was:
Rebuilt 440, untouched 906 heads with correct springs
Original Torker, 650DP, exhaust manifolds
3.23’s, 727, 12” converter, G50-15 tires
Best like that was 14.0’s, at close to(but not breaking) 100mph.
