Hello,

I'm in the process of replacing the 2bbl carb on my 318, and in while i was trying to hookup the throttle linkage i lost a small washer in the small opening between the valve cover and the intake manifold. I'm pretty new to engine work and i'm not certain of where this opening leads to. I will gladly post pics as soon as i get them but i would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks, Mike.

Welcome. If it is the crescent shaped slot around the heat crossover port your ok, it does not go into the engine. The small port goes into the exhaust port and if the valve was open something could get into the cylinder. The one above it is there to stop the heat from transfering to the oil above and is close ended.
